her mother did. Sam had never seen Kriti like this before so he held her in his arms and kissed her on her cheeks so that she stops weeping. And this formula did work Kriti finally stopped crying. “I told Jeff to book our tickets to England and our luggage will be carried to the airport by Kern, you wait here I’ll go and bid your friend farewell.”Saying this Sam went and spoke about everything to Anita. Then, he and his wife left for England.

A mystery solved
Next morning;
“So, now that we are here in England I would like you to know a few things about my family and Rosé stake mansion”. But before Sam could continue with speech Kriti’s attention was carried by Alicia, Sam’s sister. She was a beautiful lady probably in her late 20s, perhaps a year or two elder than Samuel.“So, you are the pretty young girl that Sam told me about. You must be Salorene, Sam told me a lot about you. But you are much more beautiful than he described.” Kriti was stunned when she heard these words from Alicia, she felt like someone had hit her head hard from the back. As soon as Kriti was about react, Alicia started laughing loudly and Kriti starred at her like a fool. Alicia stopped laughing and told the other person that she was just kidding and wanted to test Kriti’s trust on Sam.
“Hey Sammy you really have got a good wife, I’m sure she’ll stay with you throughout your life”. But there was something that made suspicious about Alicia both Sam and his sister were hiding something from her, something which she had the right to know. In the meantime they had reached inside the mansion. Kriti could not stop herself wandering at the beautifully decorated walls. The Persian carpeted floors as well the picture hung on the walls which drew her attention. It was the picture of a lady who seemed to be the mistress of the house. When turned towards Sam to ask about the picture, she couldn’t find her husband there. Alicia as a matter of excuse told her that Sam went to the conference the room to attend an important meeting. But Kriti felt hard to believe it because Sam was continuously walking with her so how could he move so fast to the other room? She was careful enough not to show this expression in her face.
Then she asked Alicia about the picture. But she was in a state of shock when she heard that the lady in the picture was their mother Mrs. Rosalind Stephens. She couldn’t utter a single word after that.
Thereafter she went to her room and waited for Sam to return so that she could ask him about all this mess that he had created. She was fast asleep and could not wait for Sam. Next morning when she saw woke up she found that Sam was not present in the room and there were scratch marks on her back. This means he must have come late at night and left early in the morning. But Kriti’s mind was now filled with tensions and she was not sure where she would find him.
She left her room searching for Sam, just then she saw a passage which led to another room. She followed the path and it led her to a library. There was a large one, almost double the size of her current bedroom. Huge chandeliers were hung from the ceiling, but there were no bulbs or any sort of electrical device in the room. The room was frequently visited by people who were evident from the cleanliness of the room, as if it was cleaned every day. Kriti was fond of books right from her childhood, so as soon as she saw the books she started going through them. First of all, she opened all the windows of the room, since it was a dark room. Then she went to the last row and found herself a very old book to read. It was a very heavy book.
She went to one of the tables and started reading the book, the book was written in French. Kriti had little idea about the language, but not so much so as to understand the title of the book. The book was mainly written about vampires their different forms, their habitat, and their characteristics. Kriti was quite bored with the book so switched another book which seemed to be a bit a modern than the previous one. But even this book consisted of facts and stories related to vampires and their community. Then she switched to another book and thankfully it was written in English something which she could understand easily. It was named “the Dark Lords of the fifteenth century”. Even this book was based vampirical ethics but then there were pictures and one of the pictures seemed similar to her, the picture of a man it was Sam’s grandfather. She remembered he had shown her once when they were seeing his family album.
It was quite difficult for her to believe what she was seeing right now. This meant that Sam was a vampire and she has spent six months of her life with a vamp. She wanted to run from the place quickly but was afraid to do so, because if anyone came to know about her then they would kill her. Perhaps she could stay there and pretend that she did not know anything about their existence.
After a while she returned to her own room and sat there thinking of how to escape from this place. Just then Sam entered and asked her where she was all this time. Kriti replied “I was in the library, reading a few books”. Sam’s face grew hard when he heard her words. He said “So know you everything about me. I wanted to tell you this before but it was difficult for me to do it. I guess it’s for every man who loves their wife and I couldn’t take the risk of losing you forever. You are very important for me. I had fallen in love with you the very day we got married”.
“How old are you Sam?” “I am just a year older than you dear”. “Sam please doesn’t lie to me, at least not now”. “Kriti I was born a vampire, so I’m a year older than you.”Hearing this Kriti started weeping and said “Sam I want to tell you that even if you would 123 or perhaps 150 years old I would have no problem in loving because you have loved me more than I deserved, you took care of all my needs very patiently, you treated me like your queen.”Sam was totally attached to his wife so he said “Why are you crying my love? Now you don’t have any reason to cry. You know everything about me so please don’t cry, I vow never to hurt your feelings and you physically, I won’t do any such thing which get you humiliated”.
Saying this he came closer to Kriti and kissed her, both their lips intertwined. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and they had broken their kiss, though undesirably. Sam was completely infuriated at the person, but then he calmed down and went away. He went half way through the passage and then he seemed to remember something so he came back and told his wife “Tonight we’ll make love my dear”. Kriti smiled at him and Sam went on his way, but there was a question lingering in her mind about the lady in the picture and the one she had seen during their marriage and the scratch marks on her back.
