everyone's worried, even if they don't know why. I know I am sometimes, and you're a part of me, so it stands to reason that you'd be worried too."

  "Is that what I am, just a part of you?"

  "Yes George," she says softly. "I'm sorry, but it is."

  "Oh."

  "It's ok George."

  "There isn't much time left," says the voice. "Not much time left at all."

  "I wish you could see it," she remarks, reaching for the tea. "I wish I could show it to you. Show it to everyone - all that time is still there. Everything that's ever happened is still there. The world may be ending, but that doesn't mean it never was."

  The voice is silent.

  "I'm going to say goodbye now George, but don't be afraid to call if you ever need to talk."

  "Goodbye," says the voice.

  She hangs up the phone.

  The next day she sets the projector on a small stand outside her window, facing the alley and the wall where she'd danced with her shadow. She syncs the recording to play in a loop and switches it on.

  "Well," she says. "There I am."
