Epilogue
Ten months later. . .
I pulled back and gazed at him, running my fingers through his soft hair. Bright amber eyes looked back at me. Sitting on the large porch of our weekend home, I looked out at the forest with its colorful foliage. Autumn was a beautiful time in upstate New York. The air was crisp and smelled of fallen leaves. It was unusually warm today. I smiled knowing exactly why. This world had its advantages. A long howl broke the silence and a flock of birds burst from one of the tallest trees.
"There comes daddy. " I whispered in my son's tiny ear. Logan stared back at me and made some excited sounds. So young and he already loved his father unconditionally. I glance up and Jax was there. He came to us still in wolf form, wanting Logan to grow accustomed. Amber eyes regarded me intently and I sank my hands into silky black fur. He sniffed at his son, tickling his toes. Logan giggled, loving the sensation. The wolf moved behind my chair then I felt two strong hands at my shoulders, reminding me of that first night at his club. He leaned down and whispered in my ear.
"Logan's asleep. Let's head inside for some mommy daddy time. "
His hands ran down my long hair. It was almost to my waist, and I wouldn't cut it for all the gold in the world. Looking over my shoulder, I smiled.
"I would love that. "
"And I love you," he whispered.
