Chapter 5
“Uncle?” I said, gaping.
The light of the topaz was blinding me. There was an unreal feeling about the situation, it felt disconnected from reality. My uncle? The one who had been terrorising the dream world? But it made sense now. Sounds stopped swimming in my eras, all sounds became dreadfully real and my heart dropped. We had heard he’d been admitted to a psychiatric ward, probably when his guardian died in this world, and he had always been controlling. I was in the same position I had been all those years ago, facing my uncle, against him. There was no way I could let him get away with this. Whatever happened, I had to kill him.
The realisation sunk on me that I was outnumbered, out experienced and he had the topaz. I was fucking screwed and there was ntohign I could do about it.
He smiled a twisted, crazy smile.
“Hello Savvy, it’s been a while hasn’t it?” But he didn’t sounds quite human, there was something ominous about his voice.
My arms had hung limp to my sides and I forced them up in a stance of defence. Keyn seemed on the verge of jumping and snapping his neck. His four eyes narrowed. I resisted the urge to spit in his face and tried to calm the anger and trepidation inside of me. I was sure my face was making some sort of angry grimace. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore.
“You’re a fucking crazy bastard.” I regretted it right away, I could have gone along until I figure something out, but he ignored my outburst.
Samuel paced.
At least if I died I’d finally be alone. Well a part from Keyn but he didn’t count.
“You know what this does?” He said in a hypnotising voice. He gestured to the topaz. “I can kill people, and they stay dead. You can join me, be part of this, but...”
What would happen to the others? Would they all see their guardians die? How is it I went all this way and now I can’t protect them. For a moment I continued to plan playing along and then setting Kate free but...
He pointed at Keyn and narrowed his eyes menacingly. “He has to die.”
Keyn automatically stepped in front of me to protect me but I forced him behind me. He yelped and growled, unhappy.
“Never.” I hissed, looking at his cruel face with pure hatred.
“Oh well.” Samuel’s said in a voice that was almost cheery.
Keyn was automatically caught in battle with a blue monster and I pared and attacked with my lava sword against my uncle’s sword of shimmering topaz. I was holding my own until a cry of pain from Keyn caused me to lose focus. In a moment I was on the ground and the deadly topaz sword was right above me. Keyn was whimpering but I couldn’t see him. I was hiccupping out of nervousness and shaking. I could not stand the thought of my guardian in danger.
“You were always an ungrateful little bitch!”
He lifted the sword and as he was about to bring it down, a figure brought down an ax that cut into Samuel’s back. He staggered to the ground.
“No one tries to kill MY sister.” He said in a voice that was dead cold.
“Nick!” I cried. I leaped to my feet and hugged him, Keyn got free as nick tapped my beck. I has never been so happy to see his black layered hair or his deep green eyes. His face like mine, was peppered with dark freckles.
“It might not seem like it, but I love you sister.”
My uncle chose that moment to get up and swing his sword. I moved aside and tried to bring Nick with me but the sword caught him in the head. I was shocked, convinced he was going to kneel over and die. But instead it just reformed. Samuel seemed the most surprised of all when this happened. Nick smiled a malicious smile.
“I’m already dead, bitch!” He yelled before grabbing the topaz as Samuel uselessly tried to hack at him with the multicoloured topaz sword that faded into a regular metallic sword.
“You do the honors.” He smirked at me as his friends helped battle the smiley faces and blue things.
My lava sword began glimmering with a bunch of different colours, and with the narrow concentrating I practiced knife throwing with I stabbed my uncle in the heart and watched as his body dissipated as well as all of the creatures he commanded. As my brother and I pushed and punched each other, me not letting go of a handful of Keyn’s fur, Nick’s deep red cobra with spiked on either side of its tail and a scorpion tail rolling around us, Kate walked towards us, looking infinitely relieved and like she should be in the hospital for shock, Shine, her fiery unicorn prancing beside her.
