“She said my heart was broken and it was,” Ka’ya replied, looking up at him with a lost, forlorn expression. “She said the chocolate would help, but it didn’t take the pain away – even if it is very delicious,” she added with a small smile.
“Why did you leave without saying anything?” Alexandru asked, his voice laced with pain. “I thought…. I love you, Ka’ya. Why would you just walk away?”
Ka’ya bowed her head and sniffed. She hugged her legs tighter against her. For so long, she had been alone – an outsider even in her own family – then, she had been given a precious gift. She didn’t think she could survive it being taken from her.
She looked up when Alexandru walked around the fire and knelt in front of her. He reached out and cupped her cheek, gently stroking it with his thumb. She didn’t even realize she was crying until he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to capture one tear as it slid down.
“I won’t leave you,” he said, silently understanding her fears. “I’ll never leave you. You are my life, my love, my wife.”
“I love you so much, Alexandru. I couldn’t stand watching you disappear like the others did. I couldn’t watch you go to a place I could never find you,” she sobbed, winding her arms around his neck. “I love you.”
He wrapped his arms around Ka’ya and held her, stroking her hair and murmuring to her. Desperate to calm her fears, he pressed tiny kisses along her temple, down her cheek, and to the corner of her mouth. His body tightened with need. The last three days had been torturous for him. All of his worst nightmares played out over and over until he became desperate enough that he’d asked Topper and the Fates for help.
“I love you, Ka’ya. Will you marry me again?” he asked.
“But, we are already married,” she sniffed, pulling far enough away to look up at him with a confused frown.
“I know, but I was remembering how beautiful you were on our wedding night. How delicious you tasted,” he said, pressing kisses further down along her throat until she groaned and tilted her head in invitation. “How much I loved making love to you.”
“Yes!” Ka’ya moaned.
“Forever?” he asked, licking the side of her neck.
“Ye… Yes,” she stuttered, gripping his hand and pulling it to her breast.
“Now that I have my memory back, I remember what else I can do,” he murmured, nipping at her throat.
“What… What… else can you… can you do?” she breathed.
“This,” he said, waving his free hand.
The narrow camp on the rocky shelf shifted, transforming to the interior of the tent from their wedding night. The hard pallet under them rose and expanded into a large, plush bed. The wolfhounds yelped, and quickly found a thick rug to sprawl out on. The campfire turned into a fireplace against one wall and candles gently lit the interior. The soft sound of rain and the gentle roll of thunder was their music. Ka’ya felt Alexandru rise up over her. His hands slid up her arms, grasping her wrists and holding them above her head. It took a second for her to realize that she was feeling skin on skin as he slid his leg between hers.
He leaned forward and ran his tongue along her neck again, right above her throbbing vein. Her body restlessly moved under his and her hips began to rock. A soft sob escaped her when he nipped her flesh.
“May I kiss the bride?” he asked against her throat.
“You may bite the bride,” she informed him, wrapping her leg around him and aligning his cock with her channel.
Alexandru didn’t need to be told twice. He sank his teeth into her neck at the same time as he slid deep inside her. This was his wife, his captor, his Huntress and he loved her with every magical element of his soul.
Epilogue
“Alexandru, are you sure about this?” Ka’ya asked with a nervous smile.
Alexandru reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. He could see the uncertainty in her eyes and knew this was a huge step for her. Glancing up, he saw his father and mother chatting with Legend and Mayli while his grandmother was creating magic bubbles for Dru to pop. He was glad they had stayed on after the battle.
Returning his gaze to Ka’ya, he tried to think of what he could say that would help ease her mind. She had been fretting about whether she would fit in in his world. Her eyes widened and her soft gasp had him glancing over his shoulder. A grin curved his lips. He had the feeling both Ka’ya’s and his doubts were about to be laid to rest.
The three tall, elegant women walking toward them could have come straight off a Paris fashion show catwalk. The three sisters looked nothing alike. Destiny was tall, blond, and always wore a smile that reminded him of a cat toying with a mouse. Fortune had the olive skin and midnight black hair that made him think of an American Indian maiden gazing out over wide open prairies. Aura had skin like the finest Belgian chocolate, smooth and creamy, with eyes the color of the night sky. Her soft smile showcased her tender heart.
“Hi, Alexandru,” Aura greeted, walking up and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“Hello, Aura,” Alexandru responded, returning her kiss. “Hello, Destiny, Fortune. May I ask what brings you to… far, far away?”
Alexandru waved a hand toward the village. In the background, the dwarves and giants were helping repair the damaged huts. Topper stood in the center of the village creating a kaleidoscope of fun things for the children to play with. A magical playground had risen out of the ground with slides, swings, and more for the children to play with and climb on.
Destiny chuckled. “We knew that Ka’ya….,” she said.
“….Would have some doubts,” Fortune continued. “And we just wanted to let her know…,”
“That everything will be alright,” Aura finished, walking forward to grasp Ka’ya’s hands. “You will love Magic.”
“And Charleston,” Fortune interjected.
“You’ll fit right in, love,” Destiny promised.
“I… How do you know?” Ka’ya asked, uncertain.
Alexandru chuckled. “These three lovely ladies are known as the Fates. They know just about everything that is going to happen to a person,” he said.
“We simply watch and make sure that a person controls their own life as much as possible. Running interference against interference, if you will,” Destiny responded.
“With a little helping hand at times,” Alexandru muttered under his breath.
“Yes, Topper is quite exuberant in her help, isn’t she?” Fortune retorted dryly.
Aura laughed and nodded. Alexandru loved how Aura drew Ka’ya close to her and smiled. Out of the three Fates, she had the gentlest personality.
“You and your family will be very welcome in Magic. Besides, we need you to keep Simon from killing Alexandru,” Aura said.
Alexandru snorted. “It is more likely to be the other way around,” he retorted.
“I’d be careful, Alexandru. Tory’s magic is even more unpredictable now that she is pregnant,” Destiny warned.
“Yes, she has an extra dose of hormones,” Aura added.
“We have to go, but we wanted to welcome you to the family,” Fortune said, stepping up and giving Ka’ya a tight hug. “I can’t wait until the baby showers!”
“Baby showers? How can a baby have a shower?” Ka’ya asked, turning to give Alexandru a confused look.
“Tory is expecting twins. I heard Nonny and Mom talking about it,” Alexandru said, wrapping his arm around Ka’ya.
“She isn’t the only one,” Destiny laughed with a wink at Alexandru. “Simon and you have a lot more in common than you realized.”
“What …?” Alexandru exclaimed as the three women disappeared.
“What did they mean by that?” Ka’ya asked, staring at where the women had been a moment ago in awe.
Alexandru slowly turned Ka’ya and gazed down at her. His fingers slightly trembled as he guided them down along her cheek. Bending, he brushed a kiss against her upturned lips.
“It looks like we are
going to be parents,” he said in a tender voice.
Ka’ya’s lips parted in surprise. Alexandru released a soft groan and captured her lips in a passionate kiss. He was going to owe Simon a huge apology and his sister an even bigger thank you when they returned home. Love swelled inside him as the realization of how close he had come to losing the Huntress who had not only captured him, but who now held his heart.
“I love you, Ka’ya,” he murmured, resting his forehead against hers.
“I’m ready to go to your home now,” she replied with a smile.
Alexandru pulled back. With a wave of his hand, he opened a portal back to his parents’ house. On the other side, he could see Tory and Simon sitting on the front porch swing. They both rose when they saw him standing on the other side. Alexandru’s grip tightened on Ka’ya’s hand as they stepped through the portal. Ka’ya and his parents followed behind them.
“Alexandru…,” Tory exclaimed with a combination of worry and excitement.
“Hi, sis. I’d like to introduce you to my wife, Ka’ya,” Alexandru said.
“Oh, Alexandru!” Tory said in a soft voice.
Tory hurried down the steps with Simon following closely behind her. Alexandru released Ka’ya’s hand when Tory wrapped her arms around his wife. Bracing his shoulders, he returned Simon’s uneasy stare with one of his own. Drawing in a deep breath, Alexandru held his hand out to Simon.
“I owe you an apology,” Alexandru said.
Simon’s lips twitched. “I would prefer a drink,” he replied, grasping Alexandru’s hand.
“I think I can manage that,” Charles said, stepping up and grasping his son and son-in-law-to-be on the shoulder. “So, twins, huh?! You both must have really pissed off the Fates.”
“Charles! Your language,” Sophie chided from where she was walking up.
Alexandru grinned and wrapped his arm around Ka’ya. Simon had his arm around Tory, but neither of them had the heart to separate the two women between them who were excitedly chatting. Thinking about what his father had said, Alexandru wondered how often he could get away with tempting the Fates as they walked up the steps and into the house.

To Be Continued: Benjamin’s Bride
“So, what do you think? Did we do good or not?” Topper laughed with glee as she stared into the mirrored surface.
“Topper, you know we have to be careful. Timelines change. We aren’t supposed to play – too much – with someone’s destiny,” Aura pointed out.
“Plus, we haven’t been in this position for very long,” Destiny added.
“But, you did a marvelous job with Tory and Simon, and then with Alexandru and Ka’ya. Wouldn’t it be lovely to give Benjamin someone? It would be a fabulous anniversary gift for Sophie and Charles,” Topper added, gazing back at the three Fates with a hopeful expression. “I’ll throw in dinner and tickets to your favorite musical in New York.”
Fortune shook her head. “You know that bribing the Fates never ends well, Topper,” she retorted before a wry smile curved her lips. “Make it Las Vegas and we’ll help you.”
“You girls are going to be brilliant,” Topper laughed. “Now, for Benjamin, I’m thinking someone a little….”
