Read An African Fable: How Ostrich came to climb Kilimanjaro (Book #2, African Fable Series) Page 3

“This is where the snow comes from, Ostrich!” he declared. “It falls from the sky like rain! The white fluff that is falling from the sky is what makes the blanket of snow.”

At first Ostrich did not understand. “You mean there is no fountain from where the snow bubbles out of the Earth?” he asked.

“No, there is no fountain of snow.” Monkey said confidently. “The snow falls from the sky like rain,” he declared. “Now we know where the snow comes from. We can go back to the Animals to tell them.”

“Yes,” said Ostrich. “Now we know where the snow comes from.”

That is how Ostrich came to climb Kilimanjaro.

  ~~**~~

Ostrich and Monkey very quickly made their way down the mountain, collecting Jackal and Porcupine from where they were sheltering behind the big bolder. They had good news to tell the Animals. They now knew where the snow came from. The Animals did not have to be scared anymore. The snow fell from the sky on the mountain called Kilimanjaro. They were in no danger of the blanket of snow flowing down to cover them with cold and freeze them all over.

Ostrich was happy and he held his head high. He did what he’d said he would do. He had kept his word.

  The End
