Mallobo stayed behind, the meeting with Elva weighed heavily on his mind. Not because of the Qay-Et virus but because of the ‘favor’ she spoke of.
Trystan and Lovo peered into the room to spy on Dajus. She was chewing loudly and smacking her lips. Lovo and Trystan could hear her munching of the food she prepared for herself. It was then that Trystan remembered what was so odd about the room where they captured Trelo. He grabbed Lovo and walked with her into the hall.
“The Veko.” He simply said.
“What?” Lovo wasn’t catching on as quickly as he hoped.
“She’s eating the Veko. The Skyro is making her hungry for Veko.” Trystan explained. The evening arrived quicker than what it seemed. The warriors were used to days like these due to their active lifestyles. Lovo sat down on the shiny emerald colored bench in the large cream colored hall and looked out the large fixed window.
“There’s nothing that we can do about this.” She said in almost a whisper.
“We should at least be aware of it.” Trystan said as he went to his room, leaving her to her thoughts.
Mallobo was the first to be ready to leave, he felt as if they should have left for their destinations hours ago, but they had to wait until the ship was prepared for the mission. His mind kept flashing back to the Messengers. ‘What kind of leverage could I gain by keeping their existence a secret?’ He flipped a switch and the monitor on the bridge flickered on. ‘Why would I need leverage?’
The sleek dark blue bridge of the Kitar Ku Warship was state of the art; the upgrades consisted of what Deltor learned of Lazon’s and Xanar’s technology. An invisibility cloak, which was Xanarian technology, efficient means of energy conserving and updated methods of seek and attack laser beams from the Lazonian technology. On the outside the ship looked like a luxury starship. The warriors knew that they were breaking several key points in the treaty, but they felt that it was necessary. The Great War was still going on, and this time their enemy was the Cugan. Aliens more cunning than any other that they had fought before. Anything to keep Deltor safe. Mallobo and the other warriors did not know if the Queen was aware of the Kitar Ku, they were afraid to tell her themselves for fear that they would have to get rid of the warship under the provisions of the Planetary Alliance Treaty. The neon blue lights on the touch pad keyboard light up. ‘What’s taking them so long?’
As soon as Mallobo thought it everyone arrived. He immediately picked up on the strange vibes directed towards Dajus from Lovo and Trystan, but he knew that they could afford to be distracted by their internal issues. The Kitar Ku was a large ship, they decided to split up and drop off Dajus and Lovo off at Vitca where they will search for Frok the male twin of the two founders of the Telda. While he and Trystan continued on to Shi’s hideout in Plactu. Mallobo pulled up a map for the city of Plactu; he was much younger than what is now when he last visited. The age cycles of the warriors didn’t seem to be very different than a regular Deltorian. Even though they were in close to a hundred life cycles they looked as if they only lived twenty.
The cities of Vitca and Plactu were as different as the purple lit night skies of Deltor and the orange hues of the day. Vitca received the reputation as the industrial city of the planet. That city gained the reputation as the renovations, the architects and builders lived in Vitca. The Vitca skyline was the more recognizable skyline on Deltor. It’s sweeping large skyscrapers and neon colored lights filled the city. Because of its intricate design many visitors are fooled into believing Vitca to be the capital of the city instead of Kitnar.
Plactu had a very different atmosphere than the business oriented Kitnar or the creativity of Vitca. Plactu was the celebration city of Deltor. It was not uncommon for many Deltorians to visit this city to commemorate an important event, family reunions, parties, and any other form of a gathering. Mallobo had only visited the city once to celebrate a friend’s birthday party but he had not been there to work. He and the others studied the maps while on their way to their destinations and before they knew it, he was saying goodbye to Dajus and Lovo.
Trystan wondered if Mallobo shared the same uneasiness that he felt for leaving Lovo alone with Dajus. But Mallobo wasn’t as worried as Trystan was because he had more confidence in Lovo’s abilities not to mention each of them took five of their soldiers along with them. In Mallobo’s he figured an eleven to one fight would keep Dajus from getting out of control.
Lovo and Dajus led their team through the quiet streets of Vitca. Lovo’s Alhap Unit and Dajus’ Magma Unit were dressed as civilians; no one was wearing their battle gear. One of the Alhap soldiers spoke into his communication device; he rushed beside his general Lovo, and told her that his informant tells him that there has been suspicious activity at a high end restaurant not too far away. The teams started down the street to the location that the informant shared.
Dajus wasn’t too sure of the plan, “How do we know this informant of yours is telling us the truth? How do we know that they’re not one of the Telda’s?”
The solider looked back to Dajus, “I trust her.”
“Based on what?” Dajus grabbed the solider by the arm; everyone stopped walking to watch the two.
“Hey now, that’s enough.” Lovo chimed in. “Rilo’s been working this mission the moment we got it, we don’t have time to recheck all of his intel, if he says that Frok is here then we go – understand?” Dajus scoffed and walked away from Lovo but not before giving Rilo a menacing look.
‘I can no longer tell if this is one of Dajus’ normal fits or if it’s the Skyro.’ Lovo nodded at Rilo and told him to lead the way.
Trystan made sure all of his weapons were in their proper places. A few on his belt, a backup hidden in his boot, and his computer gear in a small bag. Mallobo watched as his lead commander of the Ebta Unit landed the space ship. Once Trystan was finished he ordered all of his Aldet Soldiers to be ready to depart into town.
One of the Ebta soldiers stood beside Trystan as he punched the keys into his all purpose controller. “Sir, do you think it’s wise to leave the ship unprotected?”
Trystan smirked, “Believe me when I say, solider, if they can break through my security defenses and the defenses constructed by the Lazonian technicians, I’d give the ship them.” Everyone watched as the ship was wrapped in a silver membrane before completely vanishing.
The two teams piled onto their aircrafts and blazed into the city. Trystan noted how they made good time; they only left Dajus and Lovo an hour ago. ‘I wonder how they’re doing.’ He thought as the wind whipped across his face and the sunlight of the mid morning glowed across the planet. Even though it was early in the morning, people will still having a good time. Unlike Lovo, they had no leads and no informant. They were also dressed as civilians and made the decision to split up to cover more ground.
Lovo, Dajus, and their teams were all together when they arrived at the restaurant, Gir. It was the largest restaurant in the city, the architects were a husband and wife couple, they not only made the design for the restaurant but they also owned it. Rilo continued to share what he knew from his informant while Lovo’s soldiers broke into the restaurant, “Frok has some sort of device that unleashes the virus. That’s all she knows, I’ve only been to this restaurant once, it’s really beautiful, there’s sea life that surrounds the entire restaurant, instead of walls, even the floor. In the center there’s a large plant that…”
Dajus was irritated and she made no effort to hide it, “How does your informant know all of this?”
Rilo hid is frustration with her constant questions and answered with a controlled tone, “She came forward with the information, someone she knows has joined with the Telda’s, they don’t know that this Frok is actually a Cugan in disguise.”
Dajus folded her arms, “That doesn’t matter, the Telda’s are enemies of Deltor, whether they know they’re working for an enemy alien race doesn’t matter, both violations are just
as bad.”
“Enough.” Lovo whipped around to face Dajus, “We’re about to go in there, we don’t know what this Cugan is or what it can do, we don’t have time for this.”
“We don’t even know if this is the right place.” Dajus retorted.
The electronic lock beeped as a signal that it was open. One of the other soldiers wore a large pair of sunglasses on her face, “Um, general?”
“Yes.” Dajus answered.
“This has got to be the right place, but I think…” The woman paused.
“We should proceed with extreme caution; I think the virus has already been released. It could be the sea life and floral life that Rilo made reference to, but it seems as if the entire restaurant is alive.”
Lovo nodded and gave her unit the word to cover the kitchen exit. Everyone drew their weapons and rushed through the front doors at Lovo’s command. The mission was to take Frok alive. All of the soldiers were on edge and ready for a battle, but what they found on the inside was much more than any of them could have imagined.
A half hour passed since Mallobo and Trystan arrived in Plactu, Mallobo was getting frustrated. “Are we sure this is the right city?” He spoke into his communicator as a group of young Deltorians giggled as they walked by, they
