  In addition, many missing or wrong quote marks have been standardized.

  Inconsistent use of hyphens and capitalization of military ranks has beenretained as in the original.

  One illustration, which was between pages 32 and 33 in the originaledition, has been moved to page 65, as indicated in the list ofillustrations.
