Read Conversations With The Sun and The Moon Page 2

step into the dark oh baby

Every smile that’s crossed your face

smiles again on my mind baby,

oh and I hate to go away.

But I gently close the door my baby,

  leave the memories behind.

I crawl into the night my baby

to get so numb and high.

  Early moonlight’s calling baby

  and I can’t stay away.

So don’t you cry, don’t you cry,

  I’ll be here by morning

to keep you warm and safe.

I’m reaching out for your hand baby

to pull me back from space.

I search the stars all over baby

  looking for your face.

  Early moonlight’s calling baby

and I can’t stay away.

I’ll search the stars forever baby,

  find you a better fate

  Revolution

  say the words

  you’ll understand

  what I’m talking about

  listen close

  mark it down

  find the significance

  feel my breath

  warm your ear

  I feel yours
exhale

  pins and needles

  broken glass

  eggshells in the air

  say the words

  you’ll understand

  what I’m talking about

  listen close

  mark it down

  this is our last chance

  feel my
lips

  against your cheek

  I feel yours
exhale

  pins and needles

  broken glass

  eggshells in the air

  take my words

  onto your tongue

  taste them in your mouth

  speak them close

  mark it down

  this our living past

  feel my chest

  against your back

  I feel yours
exhale

  pins and needles

  broken glass
eggshells

  in the air

  say the words

  you’ll understand

  what I’m talking about

  revolution

  Turn Around

I’m not finished in the water.

I’m not finished in the water.

  Turn around.

  Listen to my mother.

I’m not finished in the water.

I’m not finished in the water.

  Turn around.

  I’m turning in the water.

  Whatever!

You think I bogue too much?

  Whatever!

You think I’m high too much?

  Whatever!

You think I lie too much,

  fuck guys too much?

You think I drink and binge too much,

run out of money and steal too much?

Come to my place, watch me
over do tying my shoelace.

Come to my face and tell me
your verdict: Am
I worth it?

You don’t like my dog too much?

  Whatever!

You think I drive like shit?

  Whatever!

I hurt your feelings too much?

  Whatever!!!

Come if you can handle it.

Come if you can use your dick

  to make me come.

  Get
it? I’m on my own.

  A Helping Hand

I’ll watch my hands move along

as if nothing in the world is wrong.

  Day by day, working hard,

  keeping true to the task.

I’d ask them, if they could hear,

if it is a strain at all

  to keep on moving
all the time,

  never giving up
in any way.

I don’t suppose they would think so.

It’s what hands do for sure.

If ever some day I lost one

  or heaven forbid, lost two,

I could not carry just as much,

or heaven forbid, on at all.

Keep my hands safe and warm.

  Lend them to someone else.

Let them hold a lover’s hand,

  and watch them move along.

  @ Soccer

And if the birds are chirping

  does that mean it’s summer?

  Well, it could be spring.

But if the flowers are blooming,

  you know what
season it is.

  In yellow grass

a brown snake slithers to the shade,

heading for a slow, sleepy lounge

  out of the
sun.

  Eagles watch from above

in a hollowed old oak tree.

  Ivy crawls up
its spine –

  very lethal company.

  And with the passing of
the day

and of my state of mind,

  love comes calling me awake

  and opens my
eyes wide.

  I can see now

  seasons shift like
clockwork without a tock.

Rather, windy winds whistle a timely tune.

  Trust in nature’s way

and time will come to you.

In the flow of daily living

  a rhythm makes
its way

  into my heart,
on through my body,

tapping on my brain. And I can hear it.

And then I can feel it

And you do feel the same.

  It Was You

  Once I had a man.

  Once I had a woman.

And they were the same people.

  Once I had a dream.

  Once I had a life.

And they were the same picture.

  It was you all along
in my eyes.

  Once I touched the sky.

Once I fell through the ground
I’m standing on.

And they were the same sensation.

  It was you all along,

  my love for you
coloring the sky.

  It’s Impossible

  Forgetting

  what you said

  to me

  outside

  on the stairs:

  it’s impossible

  but I did it

  and I dood it

  and I done it

  yipee.

  Forgetting

  what you did

  to me

  outside

  on the corner:

  it’s impossible

  but you did it

  and I didn’t.

  You did it
to me.

  Why didn’t I just

  stay
away

  from you?

  But I didn’t

  and you did it

  and I didn’t

  even
fight it

  but don’t think

  that you were
hiding it.

  Every
body
knows

  what you do.

  They know your
face.

  They know
your crew.

  One day
you will
get

  what you deserve

  and I will forget

  you even lived.

  It’s impossible

  but I’ll do it

  I’ll do it

  I’ll do it.

  But I’ll do it

  I’ll do it

  and I done it

  yipee.

  Jazzy Love Tune

You sure know how to fool me

  into feeling so alone.

You sure know how to trick me

into believing you would come home

  to me, to me.

What if I had fallen for some other?

Would I still be clutching my pillow
so at night?

I’m holding on to it tight
because

you know how much I miss you

when I can’t hold and kiss you

  or gaze into your eyes.

Oh when you’re out of sight,

I know you ain’t doin’ right.

You’re wrong to stay so gone so long,
so so long.

  Lullaby

  Dove is not so pure

  as the sweet
soft blowing

  of your breath
upon my cheek

that like a mother rocks her baby

  lulls me now to sleep.

  And just
below

  my waking state,

  comfy on
the cloud,

no purer bliss comes to my ear

  but your heart’s pulsing sound.

Oh! let us lie here like two feathers

blown just now to the ground,

  resting on each other

  until forever comes around.

  Mmmm

  Flat

  just like that

  this pancake

  is fucking rad

  Sweet

  sweeter than that

  this flapjack
is dripping

  with Aunt
Jemima’s

  Liquid Love

  Round

  and perfectly browned

  just like that

  this pancake
is going down

  into my mouth

  Mmmm

  Pancakes for
breakfast

  everyday.

  My Favorite Potion

  Imagining flying things

  high in the sky,

  low around my toes,

  through the horizon,

  that’s what my eye’s on.

  Imagining a world

  with
you and me together,

where seagulls fly above our heads

and I can see the ocean

  in your reflection:

  sweet maple confection;

  brown and naturally inviting;

  exciting.

One look and you have me

  in bed

  thinking of you
flying about me

  over my head.

But I know you’re not over yours

imagining a world where we can fly

  and
dance and sing
together.

Such a notion is my favorite potion

and I’ll die in your arms yet.

  Over the fence

If you want change then just stand still.

Don’t walk away or take the pill.

And if you love me like you say you do,

You’ll stay right here and see this through.

You say if I jump the fence I might fall down.

I say I’ll risk a bruise to get off this ground,

This shady ground of hunger and death,

This shaky ground of pretending friends.

This bloody place is bleeding my soul.

I can’t make out what’s right or wrong.

Confused in the head when I open my eyes,

Dizzier and deader as the day goes by.

I can’t stay here day after day

Month after month and drink after drink

So it’s over the fence to see what the
neighbors are doing

Just to see if the grass needs mowing.

I push the fence down and I’ll plant some
seeds

  Of wildflowers and cedar trees.

And they wont grow-they never do,

But at least I try, I try for you.

I try for us because we are dying,

Just like everyone else on this side of happy.

Oh but I come back to our side of the fence

And here’s already growing the seeds from my
past.

So pick me opium poppies and come inside.

Pick me marijuana and we’ll get
