Chapter 6: “Amber”

They drove up to Tommy’s house. Everyone slowly climbed out of the car. It was quiet; too quiet. No one liked this silence.

Tommy quickly sprinted up to the front door and unlocked it. Everyone followed him inside the house.

“Mike?” Tommy called to his brother.

“Yeah?” Mike walked out of the living room.

Tommy gave a sigh of relief.

“Why are all of you here?” Mike asked.

Oliver jumped into the house over Tommy’s head and squeaked.

Mike fell over backwards and stared at the cat-like beast that stood in front of him.

“Get your stupid thing away from my brother.” Tommy ordered.

“Oliver.” Jade said calmly. Oliver followed a hand motion and ran over to Jade’s side and sat down, curling his tail around Jade’s legs.

Tommy helped his brother stand and they walked into the living room.

Carol and Amber followed the two guys into the living room. Carol stopped before she entered the room. “Thanks.” She calmly said.

Jade didn’t say anything, but Oliver squeaked at her. Oliver looked up at Jade and squeaked. “No thanks are needed.” Jade said. “I’m doing what I have to in order to stop my brother.”

Oliver made an unusual sounding meow and twitched his tail quickly.

“I better leave.” Jade said. He turned to the door and walked towards it after he stepped over Oliver’s tail. “Oliver will keep watch over this house for me.” Jade walked out of the house shutting the door after Oliver followed him out.

Carol walked over and locked the door then proceeded into the living room. She slowly walked over and sat in a chair.

Tommy was telling Mike what happened at the dance. Mike sat in amazement. The group explained what Oliver and Jade did, while Carol sat in silence.

Mike went into his parents’ room and brought some women’s clothes out for Amber and Carol. The two girls went into a different room and changed out of their dresses.

Everyone had agreed to stay in a house together, especially after what had happened. Carol told everyone that Oliver was watching the house. So if anything would happen, they would know and so would Jade.

Tommy went and changed a bit later after they talked more about that night’s events.

The group was expecting something to happen, they just didn’t know when.

Everyone stayed in the living room, each one taking time in sleeping a bit.

Carol sat up with Tommy when he was on watch.

“This is nerve stirring.” Carol said.

Tommy laughed a bit. “Yeah, I suppose.” He leaned back and flipped channels on the TV.

Carol looked at the clock; it was 1 in the morning. She looked up at the window, and at the open curtains. “We should shut those.”

“Why?” Tommy asked. “Afraid that they’ll see us?”

Carol nodded. “Jade told me that I should keep my curtains to my room shut. I think it goes for any room we’re in.”

“When exactly did he tell you this?” Tommy asked.

“Before the dance.” Carol said. “That’s when he insisted to come to the dance.”

Tommy hit the remote on his leg. “I still don’t like that guy.”

Carol looked up at the window and stared outside. It was then she saw two shadowy figures dash down the sidewalk. Carol perked up and stood suddenly.

“What?” Tommy asked as he stood up. He glanced to the window.

  There was a howling noise.

“That must be Oliver.” Carol said. “Something is wrong.”

“Everyone wake up.” Tommy said as he went to wake Mike and Amber.

The two dozily sat up. “What?” Amber asked.

  “Something is up.” Carol said.

The howling grew louder, after the group heard glass break from the kitchen.

  “Get outside, now!” Tommy commanded.

The group ran outside. They backed up back to back in a circle in the middle of the street.

“It’s better to be in the open.” Mike said calmly.

Oliver jumped from the roof and sprinted to the group. He squeaked, as he looked directly at Carol. He stood in front of Carol, who was facing the door to Tommy’s house, and he began to growl.

After a minute, a figure emerged from the house and began walking toward them. It was Jason, or what looked like Jason. His hair was gray, and his eyes turned piercing yellow. His skin looked to have changed tones. He walked out of the house, dragging his right foot.

  Oliver howled again.

Another figure emerged from the doorway.

  “Litanya…Jason?” Carol asked.

The figure of Litanya walked out of the house walking on tiptoes rather slowly. Her hair had turned pitch black, and her eyes seemed to have turned white. She laughed in a harsh voice. “There is no point running.” The voice was scratchy and dry.

Jason laughed. “There is no point running.” He repeated in a dark harsh tone.

Both figures began to run toward the group, but stopped when a figure of a girl jumped between the two groups, facing Litanya and Jason.

The hair of the female figure was gray and hung nearly to her knees. Her fingernails had turned somewhat into claws.

  Carol gasped. “Alison!”

The girl turned to look at them. Her eyes were red. “Sorry about how I look.” She spoke in a deeper voice, but everyone recognized it as Alison’s voice.

Litanya threw something over Alison and it landed between the groups, causing them to split up. The object exploded.

Alison turned back to face Litanya and Jason. “Traitors!”

Neither Litanya nor Jason spoke and stood as straight as the two mutated bodies could. Jason jumped high into the air and threw something directly at Amber. The object exploded in front of Amber, causing bits to cut her arms and face, but didn’t cause major wounds.

Oliver ran and stood next to Alison and growled.

Alison held out both of her hands and ran toward Litanya. She began to wave her hands in order to claw Litanya, but Litanya managed to dodge.

Litanya hit the edge of the curb and stumbled. Alison ran quickly and cut Litanya’s neck. Blood gushed out, before Litanya’s body fell limp on the ground.

  Everyone watched in horror.

Jason stood aside and watched. His attention was focused on Alison. He turned after a minute, but when he did Oliver jumped on Jason’s back making him fall onto the street.

Oliver did a quick jump motion on Jason’s head, causing Jason’s head to hit the pavement really hard. Oliver clawed the back of Jason’s neck, allowing Jason to bleed to death.

Carol, Amber, Tommy, and Mike gathered in a group. Oliver shortly joined them.

Alison straightened up and faced them. “Hi.”

  “Alison?” Carol asked.

“Yeah, it’s me.” Alison said. “Sorry about this.” She whipped the blood off of her face.

  “Sorry about what?” Tommy asked.

Alison looked at herself, and then looked at them holding her arms up. “This.” She dropped her arms to her sides, and walked a bit closer to them.

Jade walked up slowly from one of the street directions. He looked at Alison then at Oliver.

Oliver squeaked and ran over toward Jade.

Alison turned to face Jade. “You must be Jade—Prototype 04.”

Jade nodded. He looked at the group, and then turned around.

“Don’t leave.” Carol said. “Something else might come.”

“Yes, I agree.” Tommy said. “I may not like you, but if you’re here we might be safer.”

“Assassin is on its way here.” Alison stated.

Jade turned around to face the group again. “Are you sure?”

  “Yes.” Alison said.

  “Assassin?” Carol asked.

Mike and Tommy looked at each other.

  “What they heck is
Assassin?” Amber asked.

Jade looked at the group, and shook his head. He was hiding something, and they weren’t stupid enough to believe that he didn’t know.

Alison turned to Carol. “Carol, I have bad news for you.”

“What is it?” Carol was really afraid to ask.

“I can’t stop Assassin, one of the prototypes, so I couldn’t save your parents.” Alison said. “Assassin killed your mother and father, I’m sorry.” She hung her head down.

Carol shook her head, and looked at the ground.

“If Assassin is coming, let’s sit it out.” Jade said. “We shall wait inside the house.” Jade looked at Oliver. “Stay out here and warn us when it arrives.”

Oliver squeaked and ran to jump up on top of the roof.

Everyone went inside Tommy’s house to wait for “Assassin,” one of the prototypes like Oliver, Alison, Litanya, Jason, and that thing from the mall. They didn’t understand why Jade stayed so silent of the situation. They did understand that they were in danger, but with Jade, Oliver, and Alison’s new form, they could be able to defeat this prototype that is coming.
