  Vincent was on the ground, crushed by the metal door. As he attempted to regain his footing, Nathaniel was upon him, and a succession of blows began to rain down upon his face. With a quick clockwise turn, Vincent spun and heaved his considerable weight and strength into the door, throwing both it and Nathaniel off and across the lobby. Both struck the woman as she attempted to flee, knocking her feet out from beneath her. Pictures rained to the floor and glass shattered, scattering everywhere.

  Vincent repeatedly blinked his eyes as he regained his feet, and stood before the open doorway. The light was no longer having the harsh effect. The vampire could see very clearly now. He saw Barbara there in the other room. Without delay, Vincent rushed her, fingernails barred.
