-Present Day-
*Back of Airship 119 5:30pm*
Wyatt Knewman stood up quickly in anger. The cops on either side of him grabbed onto his arms to hold him back. He was forced down onto his seat. He eyed General Jackson that was sitting across from him. Wyatt moved his eyes to the backpack sitting next to the General.
Jackson caught his gaze and put his hand on the bag, “You want this?”
Wyatt sat quietly looking away from the General and the bag.
“You’re making a mistake,” a voice echoed from down the back end of the plane. Wyatt looked to see his very smart younger brother sitting in between two cops as well.
“Oh, am I now?” the General asked without looking away from Wyatt.
“There’s a more worse man out there than Wyatt,” Wyatt’s friend said.
“Shut up, Dean,” Wyatt said quickly.
“Oh! So he does talk!” the General exclaimed happily.
“We aren’t the bad guys!” Dean spoke anxiously.
Jackson turned to Dean and glared at him. “You stole an alien artifact that somehow pumps up your brother enough to pass the normal capacity of a human.”
“We didn’t steal anything!” Dean exclaimed.
Jackson ignored Dean and turned to Wyatt leaning forward. “What I want to know, is how did you find it?”
Seven Days Earlier -
*Knewman’s Farm 11:30pm*
“I can’t believe I’m stuck out here with you,” Wyatt said kicking dirt underneath his feet. He brushed his crazy brown hair out of his eyes looking at his younger brother who was looking through a telescope up at the clear night sky.
“I didn’t ask you to come,” Dean said without looking out of the telescope.
“True, but I had nothing better to do,” Wyatt said angrily.
“You did have prom tonight,” Dean looked at his brother barely moving away from the telescope.
“Yeah, until I got dumped,” Wyatt picked up a rock and threw it into the near pond.
“Oh, so that’s what happened to Katie,” Dean said snickering. “Sorry to heart that.”
“No, you’re not,” Wyatt said glaring at Dean.
Dean smiled sincerely, “Dude, she was hot.”
“Looks aren’t everything, you’re lucky you got the smarts. You’re actually going somewhere in your life.”
“Yeah, I’m a freshman in High School and already taking classes for college, but do you know where you can go because of your good looks?”
“Girls get good jobs because of their good looks, guys do not.”
Dean looked across the field for a moment in contemplation. “This is true,” he shrugged it off and looked back into the telescope.
They both laughed aloud. “Why do you come out here to do this?”
“Because it inspires me to think of new things. The same way that dad gets inspired.” Dean answered.
“Dad watched football to get inspired,” Wyatt said laughing.
“To each their own,” Dean said smiling.
Wyatt laid onto the grass and looked up into the darkness of the night. He wondered what could be out there. How far another living thing could be. Could they be looking at him at the same time?
“Whoa,” Dean whispered.
“What is it?” Wyatt asked siting up.
“Something moving up there,” Dean said while still looking through the telescope.
“It’s probably just a satellite.”
“It’s moving to fast to be a satellite and it’s getting closer.”
Wyatt stood up quicker. “Closer? You mean it’s coming towards us?” He pushed his brother out of the way to look inside the telescope. There was a giant black glow coming close and closer to the telescope. The glow was brighter than night but darker than black.
“What is that?” Dean asked.
The skeptical came into orbit and burst into flames. It began to fall faster and faster towards them. In a matter of moments it sped into a field a few miles from there location. A ground shook in agony as it landed and a big blast of darkness flew past them.
“What the hell was that?!” Dean yelled.
“I have no idea,” Wyatt said as he began running towards it.
“Wyatt! What are you doing!”
“I’m going to check it out!” Wyatt said back towards his brother and began running off.
Wyatt entered the past a few fields to come across a small crater. In the center of the crater was a large black stone. The stone seemed to be made of dark glass. It was emitting dark energy. Wyatt grew closer to it and started to feel anger and hatred. He shook of this feeling and drew closer. He knelt below it and reached towards it with both hands. A sudden shock went through his body and his hand went flat against the rock. Energy started to circulate throughout his body. Wyatt suddenly knew the answer to every man made question. He knew everything about everything and everyone. He could feel strength and every other emotion that was dark. He heard a voice in the distance. He recognized the voice and was pulled back from the rock.
“Wyatt!” Dean had his arms on Wyatt holding him to the ground. Wyatt was breathing heavily until everything went black.
-Present Day-
*Back of Airship 119 5:40pm*
Wyatt glared at General Jackson without any emotion.
“No answer? Understandable.” Jackson leaned back with a smile. He pated the bag carefully. “Say Dean?”
Dean was taken aback from his name being called. “Yes?”
“Where did you two put the rock?” Jackson asked.
“We never had the rock,” Dean said becoming testy.
“Why are you lying? You two broke into our lab, killed our professor and took the rest of the Dark Matter.”
“We did no such thing!” Dean yelled across the plane.
“Of course you didn’t,” Jackson said turning back to Wyatt. “Another question. Where did you get the suit?”
Wyatt looked at the bag next to Jackson intently.
-Two Weeks Earlier-
*Knewman’s Residents 6:30am*
Wyatt was sitting on the couch watching television when his father walked into the room. His father sat next to him on the couch and exhaled happily.
“I’m finally done, son,” he said smiling.
“With what?” Wyatt said without looking away from the television.
“You really want to know?”
Wyatt looked at his father to tell if he was lying. He never told him nor Dean anything about his inventions. His father was smirking the smirk that says he created something awesome.
“Yes?” Wyatt said slowly hoping it wasn’t a trap.
“Alrighty than,” his father said slapping his leg, “let’s go.”
Wyatt stood up happily and followed his father to the door under the staircase. The door that led to his fathers laboratory. His father lifted a hidden panel and typed in four digits. Wyatt looked from an angle but didn’t see much. The door opened and they headed down the stairs.
Everything in the lab was covered in white metal. They got to the bottom of long stairs. To the right was an office surrounded by bullet proof glass walls. To the left an open area filled with old junker cars and bikes that Wyatt’s father would use to rebuild. On the wall opposite of them hung a large metal suit. It face shape was evil and the entire tone of the suit looked dark.
“This is what I finished,”
his dad said happily.
“A suit of armor? Like Iron-man?” Wyatt said laughing.
“You have always been a fan of superheroes ever since you were a kid,” his father laughed to himself. “But no, this suit is made of full armor but it doesn’t fly or shoot energy blasts of the suit. It’s more of a protective gear for soldiers.”
“Oh,” was all Wyatt could say.
“There’s just one problem,” his father said sadly.
“What’s that?”
“This suit is so heavy a normal human can’t move in it. It needs a power source of some kind to help move it along with the person inside. I can not find a big enough source of energy to move it for the right amount of time a soldier would need.”
“You will dad, you always find out solutions,” Wyatt said smiling.
His father turned to him and smiled. He patted Wyatt on the back, “Thanks son.”
