THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV
by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Brothers Karamazov, the culmination of Dostoevsky’s art, is a joyful book, not in subject matter, but in its energy, curiosity, the mastery of its writing, and its vision; the rest is greed, lust, squalor, unredeemed suffering, and sometimes terrifying darkness.
“Far and away the best translation of Dostoevsky into English that I have seen.… faithful … extremely readable … gripping.” —Sidney Monas, University of Texas

CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
by Fyodor Dostoevsky
This is a murder story, told from a murderer’s point of view, that implicates even the most innocent reader in its enormities. It is a preternaturally acute investigation of the forces that impel a man toward sin, suffering, and grace.
“Reaches as close to Dostoevsky’s Russian as is possible in English … It will become the standard English version.”

DEMONS
by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Inspired by the true story of a political murder that horrified Russia in 1869, Dostoevsky conceived Demons as a “novel pamphlet” in which he would say everything about the plague of materialist ideology that he saw infecting his native land.
“Pevear and Volokhonsky have managed to capture and differentiate the characters’ many voices.… A capital job of restoration.”
—Los Angeles Times

NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND
by Fyodor Dostoevsky
“I am a sick man … I am a wicked man.” With this sentence Fyodor Dostoevsky began one of the most revolutionary novels ever written, a work that marks the frontier, not only between nineteenth- and twentieth-century fiction, but between two centuries’ visions of the self.
