and glow just like a natural star would in a dark desert sky. Only those who had spiritual understanding and heavenly insight could see me pointing and directing the way. Those who were spiritually blind could only see the darkness of the night sky. Those who looked with their natural eyes were unable to see me. They failed to see my glowing signature in the heavenly realm pointing to the fulfilment of the long awaited Messiah.
If you look with your natural eyes you will only see natural things. But if you look with your spiritual eyes then you will see into the dynamic heavenly realm of the Spirit. I can remember the day when Isaiah the prophet looked with his spiritual eyes, the eyes of his heart. He was in the temple mourning the death of the King Uzziah of Israel. Suddenly his spiritual eyes were opened and he saw God Almighty. He shouted with jubilation, “I see the Lord sitting upon his throne. He is high and lifted up and the train of His robe fills the temple.”
We angels were all seen by Isaiah on that great day when the eyes of his heart were opened. He saw the Seraphim, angels with their six wings and with each set of wings they covered their faces, their feet and their bodies. The door posts shook and the temple was filled with smoke when the Seraphim cried out in unity together, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty for the whole earth is full of his glory.” We angels know the difference between the natural and the spiritual realms. Spiritual things can only be seen with spiritual eyes while natural thing can only be seen with natural eyes. Don’t make the mistake of looking for spiritual things with your natural eyes, they won’t be seen.
The Magi however looked into the spiritual realm with the eyes of their spirit. They saw me appear in the Far East from the place where the glory of the Lord always appears. I slowly moved across the heavenly sky leading them towards the great city of Jerusalem. By the time I reached Jerusalem I had quite a large gathering of wise men. So large were they in numbers that they crowded the streets of Jerusalem. Their overwhelming presence in Jerusalem got the attention of King Herod. “What brings men of such great spiritual insight and understanding to Jerusalem?” asked the illegitimate King of Israel. They told the King how they had seen me appear as a star in the heavens and that I had led them to Jerusalem. They explained how they were compelled to inquire in Jerusalem about the birth place of the new born king of the Jews. They desired to find him so that they could worship him. King Herod burned with a fiery fury when he heard that a new king was about to be born in Israel. He exploded and combusted with words of anger, “I’m the rightful king. There is no room for two kings in Israel.”
I wanted to draw my sword and kill King Herod right there and then. I would have started by cutting out his cruel tongue and silencing him. We angels all knew that King Herod was two faced. Sweet and bitter water flowed out of the same lying stream of his evil heart. He was cunning and deceitful in thought, with evil intents in his heart. Herod the king was troubled when he heard all these things and all Jerusalem with him. He gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together and demanded of them where this King should be born. They said unto him, “He is destined to be born in the land of Judah from the city of Bethlehem.” Then cunning Herod privately called the wise men and enquired of them as to when they had first seen the star appear. He sent them to Bethlehem to go and diligently search for the young child and once they had found him they were to return with news of where he was, so that he too could go and worship him there.
So the Magi departed and I went before them in my brightness guiding them to the birthplace of the Messiah. They rejoiced with exceeding great joy when I stopped at the house in Bethlehem where Jesus was. They opened up their treasuries and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They gave him gifts of gold because of his heavenly origin as the great King above all the earth. They gave him gifts of frankincense because of his heavenly ministry as the eternal High Priest. They gave him gifts of myrrh because of his bitter prophetic earthly ministry as the Messiah. They were honoured to have seen the coming of the King of the Jews, the long awaited Messiah with their own eyes. My brightness faded after they finished worshipping the baby King. I waited for them to go to sleep and then I thundered out the warnings of the Lord God. As they slept I spoke unto them saying, “Do not return to King Herod for he seeks to kill the child.” So when they awoke they departed into their own country another way avoiding Jerusalem and King Herod.
Flight into Egypt.
I Gabriel, the Lords holy messenger went as fast as my now, firmly toned golden wings could carry me. I yelled, “I’ll warn them your Majesty,” as I flashed out of the throne room directly through the open gates of heaven. I wasted not a single inch of my precious time. I appeared to Joseph once again in a life saving dream. I could sense the present danger in the heavenlies and it was my responsibility to make known the infinite wisdom of Almighty God unto Joseph. I whispered, “Joseph, take your wife Mary and your son Jesus and go down into Egypt. Stay there until the death of King Herod because he seeks to kill the boy.” Joseph suddenly awoke from yet another one of my influential dreams and did what God had commanded him to do. So Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt by night with Jesus just as I had commanded in the dream. Meanwhile back in Jerusalem King Herod was angry when he had discovered that the wise men had left without telling him where the newborn King was. He was so full of wrath that he sent his soldiers to kill all the baby infants under the age of two.
Death of the Innocent.
“Kill them all!” shouted King Herod, “kill them all!” The sound of galloping horses woke the people of Bethlehem. Herod’s soldiers slaughtered every baby boy from two years and under. They were all thrust through with the cold steel of the soldier’s swords. The sound of mothers weeping could be heard throughout the land, from the town of Bethlehem to Ramah. I Michael, the Archangel of the God of might stood silently at attention before Almighty God in the throne room. My heavy heart was filled with remorse and afflicting sorrow. I could still hear the cries of the innocent babies in my ears from the time of Pharaoh King of Egypt. It felt like only yesterday that I had stood with Gabriel on the banks of the River Nile and watched the death of the innocent babies. Every innocent face was still branded upon my memory. I desired to close my eyes and cover my ears tightly with my hands. I had seen enough innocent children die due to heartless ungodly kings.
The Heavens shook as God the Father called out my name. It only took a milli-moment for me to appear. I was in great shape. I flinched and all my feathers arming themselves in place for battle. “Michael,” called the Father of Glory. I immediately bowed down and covered my face as the brightness of his shining was too intense for me to behold. I was undone before his holy presence. He knew my every thought and the intentions of my heart. He knew that my heart was filled with sorrow because of the death of the innocent babies. He also sensed my hopelessness to save as salvation belongs to God and Him alone.
“Fear not Michael,” declared the Lord God, “I will render evil for evil. Remember how I destroyed Pharaoh, king of Egypt for throwing all the newborn babies into the river Nile. So too will the evil deeds of King Herod not go unpunished. What a man sows that he will also reap. His time of reckoning will come. Fret not thyself with evildoers for they shall soon be destroyed.” His eternal words inspired me greatly. They lifted up my heart to the place where I could think clearly again. I was angry and I wanted justice. Gabriel suddenly appeared beside me. He fell face first on floor right next to me. He began to chant, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and who is and who is to come.”
“Arise,” requested God Almighty. We arose in perfect motion and stood at attention, our wings once again gently touching as we faced one another. Our hearts were beating in our chests as fast as they could. We stood obediently and anxiously awaited the Fathers instructions. “Gabriel, you can tell Joseph to return home for I am calling my son out of Egypt and sending Him to Nazareth. He will be called Jesus of Nazareth,” announced the Father of heaven. “Michael you are to
go to the palace of King Herod in Jerusalem. He has refused to repent of his evil dark deeds. Take the Angel of Death with you. Vengeance is mine and I will repay. It is time for the vengeance of your God!” Gabriel and I departed at the same time but we went in two different directions. I met up with the Angel of Death above the king’s palace in Jerusalem.
King Herod caught me out of the corner of his spiritual eye as I appeared before him. Terror struck his heart when he saw that my sword was drawn. He began to tremble when he saw the dark covering of the Angel of Death. He knew why we were there and we both knew our mission. We simultaneously struck him with our avenging swords. I had struck him with all my might and with the faces of every innocent child on my memory. The Angel of Death had struck him in the chest and he died of a heart attack. I left his lifeless body upon the cold marble floor. The worms of hell now torment his wicked soul eternally. It was a day and a moment that I would never forget. The God of heaven had struck
