Read Every Cloud's a Dream Page 3

thus the nights no longer would

  Be boring lost in sleep,

But meant to wander every time,

  In new adventures deep

What fun then every time the moon,

  In crescent - gibbous rise,

Would sail to distant lands and time

  Our Hero, brave and wise

  Uncertainty

Every day, it brings with it,

  Uncertainty in a cloud,

And even though it maybe spring,

  There are showers of doubt

The rain that tries to wake us up

  From our slumber reverie,

To make us ask, at least for once,

Why the heart, it feels not free

Perhaps it longs for a better day,

  That we fail to understand:

To sail across the frothy seas

  To each, his Promised Land

To somehow do something much more,

Than with banal days to run –

  Life beyond the daily rise

  And setting of the sun

Perhaps someday, the rains will grant

  Dreams of moistened hope,

And the fragrant smell of muddy earth

  Will help us far elope

Perhaps someday, will break for good,

  This slumber reverie,

Till then the sky will pensive be

  With grayed uncertainty…

  And yet I silent wait

  No echoes resound

  In your fading memories deep,

  I only hear myself

As I wait and silent weep,

And wish I wore a better smile

In your sunny gifted days -

Now teardrops shine alone in nights

  With muted pensive gaze

And yet with mocking dreams I wait

  Your silent footsteps way,

And hope my dying embers rise

  On another nascent day.

The footsteps washed on a sandy shore,

The scars on a rocky fate

While Patience laughs at me and asks

  Why do I wistful wait…

  Yesterday

On a pensive day, I seldom sigh,

Nor do I sink in deep in me,

But turn back pages etched in gold,

Once again to turn and see -

  Yesterday smiling one more time,

  Memories sweet and so sublime

And the smiles bright up this cloudy day

  With memories from faraway

And my only hope is not at all

  Those days to come return,

But that again when I turn back

I smile once more and see the sun

  Lights in the shadows

  Every silent night,

When I watch the city lights burn on

  Untiringly,

  I remind myself:

  How I saw them yesterday,

  How I see them today

And how tomorrow, them again I’ll see

  The certainty is a pain

  And yet,

A smile comes with the thought:

‘A darkened night without a light,

At least a shadow that flickers not’

But every day I see the lights,

I hope a time will come someday

When I’ll get to say to me once more

How I saw the lights, them yesterday

How I see them once again today

  But no,

  Not tomorrow will I see

Those lights I saw since long before

What irony to dawn that day,

Although my lips shall draw a smile

A tear shall run upon my heart –

And the city lights shall splinter

  Millions, millions in that cry

For no matter where I turn to go

The teardrop, it shall never dry.

  Conversation with the Almighty

If you have written my story

  Already before,

  Why do I fight,

  To better it any more?

  “Because this Hand

  Has inked just the start,

  The rest depends

How well you play that part.

  And because your iron will

  Has the strength inside,

To change my every little script,

  And the lines I write”

  Street lights

  Dusk awakes

  The dormant, yellow city lights

  Lone vigilantes, holding out

Against the darkness of the night

  But such melancholy:

Though towering over vista - roads

The heads bow down pensively -

As if lost in broody thoughts

  Some assurance

  To the uncaring world,

  That the city glitters when the sun is out;

  But the torchbearers

  In lighting up others lives,

  Find themselves in darkness, doubt…

  Questions

  Had you known that yesterday,

Would be the last that we would meet,

Would you have changed the words you spoke?

Would we have changed our ways to greet?

  Your everlasting smile I knew,

  Would that be weighed unknowingly?

And would your eyes defy your words?

Would they make a silent plea?

Would we see us as other selves

And be what we long, longed to be?

What would you say? What would you hear?

Truth? Deceit? What would we see?

Some questions best are left alone, -

Their answers best not ever known,

The truth of life that time pursues,

Lest hope die out, left all forlorn

So that tomorrow, when I’ll think

Of the last time we’d said our byes

I’ll see you as you always were:

Not someone left with teary eyes…

An elf, a fairy, a dragon and me

Every night, when your world, it sleeps,

My world, it wakes for me,

  Full of magic, wonder lands

(Which, alas, the elders fail to see)

My world has heroes four in all,

  Friends both big and wee:

An elf there is, a fairy too,

  A dragon, then there’s me!

The elf is a small and tiny lad

  His ears are longish though,

But don’t you dare to doubt his strength

  With his magical arrows, bow

The fairy is a whitish queen

  With wings that flap and fly;

They say, her age is a thousand years,

  And that, she cannot die!

But the dragon is my best-est friend

(He lets me take a ride),

You can never lose a fight at all

When that beast is by your side

And I – I am the lord of all my lands

  I am the king supreme

With gold and jewels, silver all

  That you can only dream

And so we heroes, four and strong

>   Brave through the magical lands,

To dwarven mines and trollish woods

  And the danger pixie sands

We brave the dangers, all of us,

  The dangers, big and small,

For eternal peace, we’ll always fight

  The ogres, goblins, all

We’ve fought the giants of fire and frost,

  We’ve slain the ugly rocs,

And freed the seas and lakes for good

  From evil snakes and crocs

But every day, there’s a villain new

  In red or hideous blue,

(You won’t believe, but once I saw

  Even my teacher too!)

Tales of the mighty four have spread

  Across the seven seas,

The bards keep singing all our tales

  So does the western breeze

  And sometimes heroes do arrive

For our help from a distant land

  To gather golden apples or

  A fleece upon a strand!

At the end of every day we rest,

‘neath a tree upon the plain –

A magical oak that heals us all

  And brings me home again

And then once more I am a child

  Whose secret no one knows,

Living in a world that bores

  With books and homework woes

And the way my mother shouts at me,

Would she ever scold a king?

But alas, no proofs have I to show,

  With neither crown or ring!

But I only have to wait for night,

When my kingdom sets me free

And smiling waits an elf, a queen,

  A dragon all for me

You might have told me once

You might have told me once,

  You are moving far away;

I must have been lost in your eyes

  To not remember that day

  You could not perhaps bear

  A tear drop in my eye;

I could only think you never

  Did want to say goodbye

When the day was bright, I was content

  With just your memories few;

When I woke at last, it was just too dark

To start a search for you

  In my silence, I think,

How much estranged have we been?

  (Worried winds wonder why

Better days could not be seen)

Today, I can’t ask your return,

  You have moved ahead afar,

But hope you know I shall be glad

If you be happy where you are

  At the end of night

When you run out of your day

And find no more your light,

  You’ll find me standing silently

  At the far end of your night;

But I wait not since eternity

So that one day you may turn,

I know somehow I’ll meet you there

The day I find the sun

And like before, once more again

I will hand the star with glee

For in the darkness of our worlds,

You’ll need it more than me...
