Read For You: Poems of Faith, Hope and Love Page 2
I’d sacrifice all I have for you
To treasure the joy you made
For the reasons for my happiness
Are found in the little things you do
My life was not God’s gift to me
God’s gift to me was you
The Sea and I
The sea and I
Two birds in the sky
Two strangers
Drifting on in time
I know as much as you
You know as much as me
We’ve touched before
In clouded mystery
I wonder what lies
Underneath your depths
Just like a little child
Are your waves
Tears that we’ve wept
And I’ve sat on the sands
I’ve felt the salty breeze
While all the romantics
They always turn to you
To confess their love
In quiet solitude
What is this magic that you work
The sea and I
Colors of your eyes
Two friends
Drifting on in time
My Rainbow
Rainbows
Are so beautiful
The calm
After the storm
Rainbows
Only colors
Yet magical
When they take form
Our lives
Like changing weather
Some sun
Always some rain
But you
Make my life wonderful
Please
Let me explain
You are my rainbow
When the storm has taken me down
You bring me up again
You are my rainbow
You are my friend
You shine through the clouds above
Come shine on me again
You’re Everything
You’re the beauty in the morning
You’re the sunshine of the day
You’re the seagull’s wild calling
You’re the boat on the waves
You’re the voice in my laughter
You’re the beat of my heart
You’re a light in the darkness
You’re my special part
You’re the feeling inside me
Your love is my friend
You’re the warmth in the winter
Let me love you again
You’re the breeze in the summer
You’re the clouds in the sky
You’re the smell of fresh roses
You’re the tears in my eyes
You’re the hope for tomorrow
You’re the reason I write
You’re the dream when I’m sleeping
You’re the moon out at night
You’re a reason for living
You’re the song that I sing
You’re the sound of the music
You’re my everything
Georgia, My Sweet Home
I love the way these mountains rise up to greet the sunshine
The rolling hills still ageless in time
Etowah Valley, Blue Ridge mountain range
Chattahoochee memories flowing in my mind
I’ve been away to long I know
Seems I almost forgot what it’s like
To gaze up at the stars and watch a dream come true
To be one with the wilderness at night
Georgia, sweet, sweet paradise
The land, I call my own
Georgia, spirit soaring
Georgia, my sweet home
To the country I will lay down my weary heart and soul
Someday I will settle in this town
Where every day is history, still every day’s brand new
And peace is nature’s sweetest sound
Have you ridden down the highways, why the scenery is fine
I’d love for you to take a trip with me
To share with you my happiness, my love and my life
To show you things you know I love to see
Like the farmer going off to harvest the land
To see the rivers running free and wild
To watch the mountains change their colors or winter’s first snow
I can’t help it now, it always makes me smile
Georgia, sweet, sweet paradise
The land, I call my own
Georgia, spirit soaring
Georgia, my sweet home
Oh yes, Georgia’s my sweet home
Take For Granted
We should never take for granted
That the sun will always rise
And between the highest mountain
There’s a valley tucked inside
And how can the river waters
Look to be so clean
When we throw our waste away
Just a mile or so upstream
Don’t take for granted
That the earth can always heal
Don’t take for granted
That our hearts are always real
Don’t take for granted
The special people in your life
Don’t take for granted
Don’t take for granted
She’s the Light
She’s the light inside my soul
All the promises and secrets that she holds
She wraps her arms around my fears
How I need her here
How I need her close to me
She’s the light inside my love
And how she shines, like the heavens high above
She fills my life with gentle peace
Time, it seems to cease
When we’re walking hand in hand
Sometimes I have to wonder
Why she’d wait for me
My life is always wandering
I’m always on the road
But she’s the light that guides me home
She’s the light inside my life
When all seems wrong, she alone can make it right
But I’m gone, I’m the rolling stone
Still, she’s the light
Come guide me home
One With God
How can I be
All the things I’d like to be
When I always feel alone
Thought You would be there
To guide me on my way
But it seems that I was wrong
Did you abandon me
Or did I turn away
Sometimes truth is hard to recognize
Will You welcome me again
Into Your waiting arms
To teach me how to share
To bear Your cross again
One with God
Make us one with God
By faith alone
Make us one with God
For no matter where you go
There’s one thing that we know
Our love for Jesus
Makes us one with God
In a world that always seems to close its eyes
To all the suffering and hate
Can it really be explained
In a world that always tears our dreams apart
We never are alone
Even though sometimes it seems we are
One with God
Make us one with God
By faith alone
Make us one with God
For no matter where you go
There’s one thing that we know
Our love for Jesus
Makes us one with God
Feed My sheep
Don’t be divided
Spread His Word
That’s what we’re called to do
In His house
There are no labels
Touch the world
He is reaching out to you
One with God
Make us one with God
By faith alone

Make us one with God
For no matter where you go
There’s one thing that we know
Our love for Jesus
Makes us one with God
Wish You Were Here
It’s been so long since I’ve seen your face
But I will remember it always
All the feelings we’ve locked up inside
Just waiting for the right time to be said
It’s only distance that keeps us apart
But you hold a place deep in my heart
And though loneliness sometimes creeps in
I just think of you and it fills up again
I guess I’m crazy because you’re miles away
But I was never much good at good-bye
And I don’t want to leave you this way
But it’s something I have no control of
And there will come a time when we can say
We belong to each other forever
No more dreaming alone or sitting up by the phone
I just want to spend some more time together
I wish you were here
Because there are times when I need you so bad
When the world crumbles down
And the love that we had just can’t be found
And the miles are taking their toll
I wish you were here
Now all the things we had are gone
It started out so well now ends so fast
It doesn’t seem fair anymore
That the moments just can’t go on again
I wish you were here
Because there are times when I need you so bad
When the world closes in
And the love that we had just can’t be found
And the miles are taking their toll
I wish you were here
It’s been so long since I’ve seen your face
But I will remember it always…
I Was Once Your Hero
I was once your hero
I was the one
You always cheered on
I was the one
Who stood for you
And I did my best
To come shining through
I never asked for any glory
But I believed
In what I fought for
And somehow I know
You felt my pain
And through all the victories
Have you forgotten my name
And tell me now
Who is your hero
Because I have gone
Where have you turned
And tell me now
Who’s right and who’s wrong
Because when it’s over
Just what have you learned
I was once your hero
And all of the blood
I bled for you
I was the one
Who carried your dreams
And I showed you winning
Isn’t all that it seems
I never said
That it would be easy
When I stood alone
I still felt you there
And you cry a tear
Whenever I fall
And as I slowly rise
I hear you call
Wondering maybe this time
If this battle can really be won
Might just be time to count out
Or do I keep on trying
Until I can’t reach anymore
Used To Think
I used to think
There was nothing quite as beautiful
As the mountains
Watching all the changes
From the winter to the spring
I used to think
There was nothing quite as peaceful
As the ocean
Sailing with the currents
On a wave so crystal blue
I used to think
There was nothing quite as majestic
As the eagles
Soaring over the canyons
On a trade wind to the skies
But then I saw you
And suddenly I changed my mind
Tammy’s Poem
Tammy
Are the nights so cold and lonely
That you find yourself staring out on broken dreams
Trying to find the laughter
And the beauty of the morning
Just stare into the mirror
And look at what I see
Did you know that you are beautiful
So young and so unique
Inside I’ve seen the love you have to share
And just to be near you
Is a joy like sailing on the ocean
Would you believe
I’d love to take you there
So we could sit and share the sunrise
Watch the horizon glow
Feel the warmth at the dawn of a brand new day
And know we can find the answers
They are buried in our hearts
And the promise of the future
Is so much brighter than today
Lady
Lady
I know that words alone can’t say
I don’t think that I could make it without you
And lady
Please don’t ever go away
Even though sometimes I doubt my love for you
Close your eyes my love
And dream of better days
How can this love survive
When I’m so many miles away
Can’t forget the night
We walked along the shore
I wish that I could give you something more
Lady
I see the sunset in your eyes
Is there anything more beautiful than you
And lady
I feel the tears that you cry
But don’t you know my heart still longs for you
Close your eyes my love
And watch it fade away
Promises we had
So many promises in vain
Can’t forget the love
That we were closer to before
I wish that you could give me something more
I know that we could really give each other more
Cornerstone (Faith in You)
Where have You been all my life
Were You standing in front of me all this time
When my world was falling apart
Were You the one reaching out His hand
When there was no one by my side
Were You the one I always felt there
When the sky was grey and dark
Were You the one who sent the clouds away
Looking back now
It hasn’t been an easy road
Searching for a cornerstone
To join our lives and make our dreams seem real
Looking back now
The path I chose was hard
But You never seemed that far
Did You ever know just how I feel
Did You ever know all the faith I found in You
When the water was calm and like crystal
Were You the reflection that I saw
When my mind had wandered out to space
Were You the one my thoughts kept drifting to
And where have all the words come from
Are You the only inspiration that I need
When I stood and watched the day’s end
Were You the beauty I saw in the sunset
When I was lonely and weak
Were You the one who made me strong again
Were You the one who sat me on a pedestal
Were You the one who always stayed my friend
Looking back now
All I see is You
And I wonder
Do so many others get blessed
Looking back now
Life is just a question
That You always
answer yes
Searching for a cornerstone
Have I ever shown
All the faith I found in You
Inspiration
My mind often wanders
Whenever I’m lonely
My heart’s always searching
For a place to call home
I used to be happy
Life has so much to offer
New people and places
There’s so much to see
So I ask myself daily
When there’s so much to give
Just what is the problem
Just what do you need
I need a friend now
Someone I can talk to
Someone I can share with
Someone I can trust
I need inspiration
A reason for morning
A reason for caring
A reason for love
Where are the seasons
Where is the sunshine
Where are the mountains
Blowing soft in the wind
There’s to many changes
We’re just so divided
All of this hatred
I can’t understand
It used to be beautiful
The sound of a rainfall
The passing of winter
The promise of spring
I long for the ocean
The sweet sound of silence
I long for your whisper
When the night is so cold
Why are we falling
Why are we frightened
Why do the true lovers
Always seem to get burned
I need inspiration
A reason for being
I need to find peace
In this old heart of mine
These Things Are You
Soft as a rose
As cool as a gentle breeze
Quiet as the sea
As warm as the sun
Peaceful as a snow capped mountain
Sweet as an early dew
More beautiful than any woman
These things are you
Tonight
Last night, I watched a full moon
Slowly glide across the sky
And the stars were shining peacefully
Like the sparkle in your eyes
Without you here, I’ll just turn around
There’s so much I need to know
Why can’t the miles slowly fade away
When will the distance cease to grow
Can you come
And whisper in my dreams
Tonight
I just want to hold you close to me
