Chapter Twenty-Six

Terry had put on her new red dress that she had bought. Then she gathered up her keys and purse. She needed to take a quick trip to the store.
She started walking out to her car. She hadn’t left the house much after the baby was taking away. She had been like a zombie. Her heart and mind hadn’t let her do anything.
She got the car and opened the door. She threw her purse on the passenger seat and started to get in. Then someone kicked the door shut. She was thankful she got her leg out of the way in time.
Melissa was standing there staring at Terry. She had an evil smile on her face. Her long blond hair hadn’t been washed for days and was in tangles.
Melissa was back on meth. She was also under the influence of the dark robed man. He had sent her after Melissa.
“Who are you?” Terry asked. She thought the girl looked familiar. She didn’t know how she knew the girl. “What do you want?”
“I want Trevor,” Melissa said. “You’re in my way.”
“What?” Terry replied.
Terry realized that it was the drug addict that was in love with Trevor. Trevor hadn’t wanted anything to do with her even before Terry.
Melissa pulled out a knife. “You must die bitch.”
She went after Terry. She jabbed the knife at her and missed. Terry punched her in the mouth.
Terry had never punched anyone before. Her hand hurt. It felt good.
Blood flowed from Melissa’s mouth, but she only smiled. She jabbed the knife at Terry again. This time she got her, but it was only a small cut.
Terry thought that she was going to die. She wasn’t going to be able to stop the crazy woman. She would never see Trevor or her son again.
Melissa raised the knife up in the air again. Then a gunshot had gone off. Melissa fell to the ground.
Then Cindy ran up to Terry. She had a gun in her hand. “Terry, you alright?”
Cindy had her red hair tied in a bun. She was wearing a black blouse and black trousers.
“Yeah,” Terry said. She was in shock. “Where did you come from? Why are you even here?”
“I know where he’s at,” Cindy said. She kept looking over her shoulder. “I know how you can get him back.”
“Who?” Terry replied.
“Your son,” she answered.

It didn’t take Trevor long to get home. He had received a frantic call from Terry. He didn’t know what was going on. He could only make out that someone had been shot.
The police were still there when he arrived. There was a body on the ground covered by a white sheet. The car door was open and there was blood on the ground.
Terry was been looked at by the paramedics. They were going to be taking her to the hospital. They just wanted her to be looked at.
Trevor was told who was under the sheet. He couldn’t believe it. He hadn’t seen Melissa for awhile. There was no reason for Melissa to try and hurt Terry.
“Do you know this lady?” an officer asked.
“Yes,” Trevor answered. “But, I haven’t seen or talked to her in months. She had never meet Terry before.”
The officer had asked him about Cindy. Trevor had said that he hadn’t really known her. He didn’t know why either one of the women would have been at the house.
Cindy was nowhere to be found. They had called the sheriff to go get her. The sheriff reported back that she couldn’t be found.

Robert, the sheriff, and the dark robed man sat in Robert’s room. The room was only lit by candles. This was a secret meeting.
“Soon we will start,” the dark robed man said. “We first send a message. We will send this message by burning down the houses of those that are gone. No one is to die by our hands when we are delivering this message.”
“When is this going to go down?” Robert asked.
“Soon,” the dark robed man said. “A few days, a week, or a month, you’ll just know.”
“So why burn down houses that no one lives in?” Robert asked.
“To let them choose,” the dark robe man said. “To let them choose to come to us.”
Robert didn’t see the point in given them chance. He didn’t want anyone of them to come to him. He didn’t care if they all died.
“How am I supposed to cover this up?” the sheriff asked.
Robert couldn’t tell that something was bothering the sheriff. It was like the sheriff almost was feeling a little guilty.
The dark robed man didn’t reply. The sheriff looked at the both of them. He looked confused.
