John 8:32 tells us “…you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”.

How can we apply this verse to the problem of feeling guilty for being tempted?

There is one place in the Bible that has the best example that shows that being tempted is not a sin. Find the hidden phrase in the following word search puzzle to discover this truth that will help set us free from guilt. (Hebrews 4:1-20)

  Consequences to Sin

Tuesday we looked at the “Fall of Man”. When Adam and Eve gave in to temptation and sinned, a huge canyon was formed separating God and man. Adam and Eve’s “sin” caused “sin” and it’s affects to enter this perfect world that God had created.

One of the things that can help when you are tempted is to imagine what would happen if you gave in to that sin. Try to see who all would be affected because of your sin. Very many times, others are hurt just as much as you are when you give in to temptation. Your sin also affects others.

Think about the one temptation that you struggle with day-in and day out. Think about what would happen if you would give in to that temptation. What kind of consequences would it have on your life?

Who would it affect if you gave in to this temptation? How much would it hurt them?

  Squashing Temptation

There are several things we can do to help us when temptation comes our way.

Read the following and write down what it says about handling temptation.

  James 4:7 -

  Prov 27:17 -

  1 Cor 10:13 -

  1 John 1:9 -

  Gen 39:10-13 -

  Matt. 4:1-11 -

  Luke 18:10-14 -

  Joshua 1:8 -

Remember, there are two main parts in dealing with temptation.

God’s part—Realize that you can’t do it by yourself. You need God’s strength and truth.

Your Part—You have to do your part by finding the way out that God provides. Remember 1 Cor 10:13.
