Read Godfrey: Book Two Page 6

  • Atlas Lumber Co., owned and operated by the Welch family, was one of the sole sources for lumber, paint, building supplies, etc. in Wainwright prior to World War Two.

  • The Fordson Model F tractor (produced by the Ford Motor Company) first rolled off the assembly line in 1916, becoming the first, mass-produced, affordable tractor available to North American farmers.

  • Alberta held a general election in July 1921. The newly-formed political wing of the United Farmers' Association (1919) won the election in what was a veritable landslide, winning thirty eight of sixty one seats. John Russell Love, United Farmers' Association candidate for the constituency of Wainwright, defeated Liberal incumbent George Hudson.
