his arm—a warm, blue light emanating from her palm. He felt the warmth of the healing spell filling his arm as she reinitiated the kiss. His heart raced—the fragrance of her perfume intoxicated him and the heat from her body made his respond as nature commanded.
He broke the kiss and searched her neck with his lips—tracing them along the softness of her skin until he found the spot he had been looking for. The spot where he knew she was most sensitive. He nibbled on the area—feeling his temperature rise, the rhythm of her now deepened breathing enticing him by the second. In a short time, his arm was semi-healed. He wasted no time in joining her in divesting each other of the garbs they wore.
Their bodies intertwined in an embrace of passion and ecstasy—almost like before in the cave, though this time was different. This time there was a release of rapture for them both. Dante’s suppressed feelings, now manifested, gave way to the act of passion that propelled him—feeling her bare form moving in unison with his. Dante’s body relaxed as the finality of their intimacy culminated—their bodies consecrated by small beams of sunlight which now reached the fields.
Dante rolled over with Amelia and laid on his back, holding her close to him to lay on his chest. His thoughts were as clear and tranquil as the morning sky at which his eyes gazed. He looked down at Amelia whose eyes were closed—she looked peaceful and more beautiful than ever—even in her true form.
“Will I see you again?” she asked softly.
“Yes. Quite often in fact, as I would like it to be,” he said, running a hand through her hair. “If Galmaria’s spell has truly worn off on the Viscount you will have to l—”
“Yes, I will be forced to leave no matter what,” she replied without opening her eyes. “I already planned for it and have my things ready, as you saw.”
“Where will you go?”
“Wherever I can be at peace.”
“I will help you,” Dante said, reassuringly.
“Help me? You don’t have to, this is my burden to bear and—”
“Marry me.”
She opened her eyes and looked at him. “What?”
“Marry me, Amelia.”
“You—first of all, you are a knight, you can’t—”
“I will resign,” he said, looking up at the sky. So quiet, so peaceful—the inspiration of his resolve. “This war, it’s—I don’t like it. When I first joined the army, I was full of hate and anger. Now that I see things differently, I want something else, something more. I want no more blood on my hands.”
Amelia stared at him for some time in silence then smiled before lying upon his chest. “What would the kingdom do without its beloved and talented Captain?”
“I’m sure they will be in good hands,” he replied, thinking of Rina, whom he knew—due to her revelation while under Galmaria’s spell—yearned to be captain. Now she could finally get what she sought as well. “I have a house in the Town of Holmein, we could stay there. I always wanted to work on my gardening skills full-time anyway.”
“You are serious about this, aren’t you?”
“I am.”
“Well it sounds like you have thought this all through.”
“I have, but you never answered.”
“I would be more than happy to spend the rest of my life with you, Dante, as your wife,” she said, tracing a finger along his chest. “Let us get some rest now and think things through once we’ve awoken.”
He looked at her and watched as she closed her eyes slowly. Is this what he really wanted? He was sure of it—after all, he spent the greater part of the night contemplating the decision. He had not thought to execute it so soon, but seeing Amelia was the catalyst that brought it to fruition. He would have to tell Naro his decision, though he intended to investigate the mystery he left for him at the castle, before doing so. With these thoughts in mind, he finally closed his eyes and soon too fell into a deep slumber—dreaming of clear blue skies, his future with Amelia and peace throughout the lands of Nyaria and Cthonica.

About the Author
I’m an avid reader and writer of fantasy stories involving magic, otherworldly creatures, dystopian worlds, enchanting kingdoms and other elements of fabledom.
I like to think that fantasy stories allow us to reach into our imaginations; we get to explore our inner realities and discover mystical worlds of enchantment and magic—the escapades of which often give us greater perspective into our own world.
As a writer, I enjoy delving into such and do hope you find my tales entertaining. For updates and information on my latest writings, you can follow me on my blog.
Thank you in advance for reading my works, and I look forward to your reviews!
