  Jennifer Walker walked into her dark apartment. She automatically reached out for the light switch and flipped it. To her surprise, the room stayed dark. “Damn.” She squinted in the dark. She knew their were some candles around somewhere.

  With her hands stretched out in front so she wouldn’t crash into anything, she walked into her kitchen. A dark shape was vaguely visible in the darkness through the moonlight spilling through the window.

  Jennifer narrowed her eyes on the shape. “Is somebody there?” Dread crept over her as the shape moved forward.

  A shrill scream exploded from her mouth as the shape approached her. She was engulfed in black smoke and then the screaming stopped. Nobody in the apartment building came to help.
