Elryia, miles away, had woken up again. Not due to stress or angst, nor danger of any sort. What kept her from slumber was the relentless, nerve-shattering snore of her Dwarven companion.

The young woman groaned, tried several times to cover her ears, then debated finding a new spot amidst the open plains. It was possible, the land stretched out far beyond view, but such was dangerous. If they needed her and she was too far away, she would never make it in time to help them.

Against her better judgment, she muttered a few words and waved her hand at Gort. Although the snoring ceased, the actions from his body did not. He continued to open and close his mouth as he breathed in and out, yet nothing was heard coming from it. Elryia tried her best not to cast a silence spell on him every night, even though his snoring happened that often. She found the Dwarf to be quite perturbed when he awoke to discover he couldn’t speak, and usually she wasn’t up before him to remove it before he realized it. But drastic situations called for drastic measures, and she smiled—now able to sleep.
