Andy’s Debut

Grace nodded, disappeared, and moved through his door, then sat down in the corner chair while watching him. He rested against his propped-up pillows. He didn't move and only stared, but his heart was considering. He sighed, and his head dropped to his chest.

In a whisper, "If you're real, this is the best I can do. Help me, Lord." Nothing happened, and he knew it wasn't enough.

He waited a minute, then said again, "Lord, help me, please. Give me what my wife and daughter have. Forgive me of my sins. I give my life to you. Come into my heart."

He raised his head and sighed deeply. He didn't feel the fireworks of a wham-bam change. What he felt was a deep sense of peace without Irish touching him. It was a peace that said, "Everything is going to be okay." He couldn't describe it.

He whispered, "Well, that wasn't that bad."

Irish knew instantly what happened and smiled victoriously. "Step one," she thought to herself.

Irish was unseen at the front of the hospital when Jewel, Mandy, and Patty came to admissions. Patty took charge, "We're here to visit Andy Robertson. We called earlier, and he's scheduled for surgery in about 35 minutes."

At that moment, Andy's nurse walked by saying, "Andy Robertson? I'm his nurse. His wife and daughter just stepped out a second ago."

Jewel almost shouted, "I'm his wife, and this is his daughter, Mandy!"

The nurse was stunned, "You know; I'm sorry. I just assumed it was his family since no one else was around. Come on, let me take you to him."

They all walked behind the nurse while Irish watched and followed. As they walked into his room, Mandy rushed to her dad's bed. Tears were flowing down his face, and he got so excited that he almost pulled the IV out of his arm trying to reach his little girl. Jewel picked up Mandy, and they all three hugged, holding to each other, not saying a word.

"Oh Daddy," said Mandy, "you're sad. You're crying."

"I'm not sad, Mandy. I'm about as happy as a man could be. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you. Please forgive me, Jewel." They never let go of each other.

"Andy Robertson, if you ever do anything like this again, I'll tear your ears off. Andy, did I hear you say 'forgive'?" She had never heard him say that word in her life. It was always 'I'm sorry,' but never 'forgive.'

  "What's going on?"

"Oh, nothing much. I just gave my life to the Lord like Irish and you suggested." He felt Jewel pull away from him.

"Who in the heck is this Irish? You'd better talk and talk fast Mr. Robertson," she spoke, trembling in her confusion and frustration.

He reached out and pulled her close to him saying, "You're the only one, Jewel. I don't know who or what Irish is. She's just someone I met yesterday. I helped her and her little girl, Grace, with a ride to Albuquerque."

Patty ran to his bed, "Did you say, Grace? Did you hear that, Jewel? I never told you. That's the name of the angel who visited Tim and me. The same angel who went to you too. Do you think that Irish is an angel?"

"What are you two talking about, an angel? Wait a minute. The motorcycles, the God talk, it couldn't be!" exclaimed Andy.

"Daddy, you didn't tell me that my angel was here!" said Mandy.

"What angel, Mandy?" asked Andy with all of them looking around.

Grace watched them scanning the room as Mandy pointed directly at her. Grace saw Mandy squiggle down from her mother's arms and run towards her. Only feet in front of Grace, Mandy pointed shouting, "Here!"

Grace saw Irish coming unseen through the door, nodding it was okay. Grace stood up and hugged Mandy. "Through the eyes of children," said Grace, being seen by all of them now.

Patty and Jewel exclaimed together, "It's her. It's our angel."

"That's Grace?" said Andy. "She's no angel," although he couldn't explain where she came from.

Grace came over to them holding Mandy’s hand and wedged herself between them and the bed while touching Andy's arm tenderly.

"Sorry Andy, wrong again. That’s the piece of the puzzle you've been missing."

Andy pulled his arm back in shock, "But if you're an angel, then that means Irish is one." The truth of it hit him like a ton of bricks. He'd been a friend with a real honest to God angel.

"Where's Irish? I want to give her a piece of my mind for not letting me know. She sure had me guessing. Everything makes sense now."

"So your girlfriend is an angel?" exclaimed Jewel laughing with relief. "When you get into the Godly circle, you really go all the way."

Irish appeared beside Grace gently running her fingers down her long braids. "Yes, he does, but he's not done yet."

"Irish!" exclaimed Andy. "I can't believe I was with an angel. Who was that little boy called L.A.? And oh, I'm embarrassed, who is this big brother named Aaron that Grace talked about?" He couldn't shake the fact that he had been zeroing in on Irish's looks several times, not knowing she was an angel of the Most High God.

Grace laughed, "Oh, that big brother? That's only Aaron, a seven-foot power, the commander of the angel legions. He's sweet on Irish too."

"Grace, not so many family secrets, please! L.A. is a dark angel who started your motorcycle riot. He's over two thousand years old and works directly for Apollyon, Satan."

"No wonder you were going to put him in a blender," said Andy.

Patty and Jewel felt like outsiders at a family picnic. Jewel asked Irish, "Why did you say that we're not done?"

"Good question, seeing that we only have twenty minutes before surgery. Andy, it's up to you. We've asked Mandy to bring her healing oil. Your second miracle is to receive your healing. If you want, Grace and Mandy will pray over you together." Mandy pulled out a little bottle of oil from her pant’s pocket.

"I got it right here, Daddy. Please, let me pray for you, please." Mandy pulled on his sheets excitedly.

"The choice is yours, Andy," replied Irish. "Only minutes ago, I'd say not on your life, but things have changed, haven't they? I figure it's only right that I live to enjoy this new life with the ones I love the most. Mandy, you sure can!"

Mandy did a little dance of joy and grabbed Grace's hand as he pulled her towards him. Andy snapped his fingers as if he forgot something, "Just one thing, real fast, Irish. Where are your wings?"

Irish said, "You’re right, there isn't much time," and moved to the other side of his bed.

As she popped out her tinted contacts, Grace commented, "Oh, boy, are you in for a treat."

Her rainbow-star eyes colored the air around her, then she expanded her wings more radiant than a real rainbow. The whole room was full of brilliant, heavenly colors. Mandy clapped joyously while Jewel and Patty gasped in the glory. This was way more than they expected.

Grace and Mandy crawled up onto the bed with Andy. He leaned towards them; and with a little help from her mom, Mandy opened the oil. Grace took Mandy’s hand in hers, reached out over Andy's head, and whispered something to Mandy.

Mandy arched her back for the great command, "Grace and I anoint you with oil for your healing." They poured the two-ounce bottle of oil over his hair and forehead letting it drip and run down his gown.

"In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we pray that you receive your healing. We thank the Lord of Glory for hearing our prayer."

They got down from the bed, and Andy blinked his eyes, not feeling anything. Then, there was a sense of hot fire moving from his chest following his blood stream. It was so hot that it was searing. He knew the sickness was being burned from him with the holy flame of God. He broke out with a great sweat; and only to him, he heard a sizzling in his head and smelled something burning. He reached up and grabbed the back of his head, and it was hot to his touch. Irish moved close to him while covering his bed and Andy with one of her wings.

She whispered to him, "Surrender to the power of God."He whispered back to her only inches from her face, "I surrender."

"Yes, you have." She kissed him gently on his forehead and disappeared, followed by Gr
ace.

The nurse stuck her head in the room to announce the start of the IV, then saw the oil running all over Andy's head and gown. "My, you are really a mess. Let me clean you up, and we'll start that IV."

"I'd rather not," said Andy very matter of factly. "I want one more MRI, and I want it now! I'm not letting anyone cut me until you prove that cancer is still there! I'll pay for this one myself."

The nurse turned and left immediately, then after the doctor’s approval, they wheeled him down for the tests. He knew as they found out, no cancer, clean as a whistle.
