  My Soul

  He sweeps through my dreams.

  Flying with grace and ease.

  Standing proud and tall.

Not to ride him is a tease.

  Black onyx is his body.

A tiny white star appears on his head.

Blood red remains forever on his nose

And on my heart he does tred.

The wind rages around his body.

  Every muscle burst with power.

His long legs carry him far.

Farther than the God's highest tower.

In and out of dreams he does travel.

With never a care or concern.

  Tempting my heart and life

And makes my very soul burn.

  Soul of the Horse

  I am immortal.

I have been worshipped by man.

  And have been God's mate.

With my speed, courage and grace.

  I race through the valleys.

  Swim in the rivers.

  Fly over fallen trees

  And dance with the thunder.

Though the ages have been harsh

I still hold my head high.

  My step is still regal

  With beauty on my side.

  If they should perish,

  Here I will stay.

  To help them flourish

And be great again one day.

  God's Gracious Gift

  They come into our dreams.

One or many at a time.

  They're beautiful flying hooves

  Traveling like a perfect rhyme.

  Racing the wind

  Flying through the skies.

  Kept in our hearts

And seen in our mind's eye.

  They dance over the water.

  Charge over the ground.

  As light as a feather

  Without making a sound.

  Soft velvet noses.

  Expressive round eyes.

  Graceful hard bodies.

  No one dares defy.

  These are my soul mate.

  Truly Angels they must be.

They fly with wings of love

And bring me to heaven's gate.

  Unknown Destiny

In the beginning of my innocent life

That was so pure and new.

  No cares and no strife

I was so happy my heart flew.

  The bright blue sunny days

  And the crystal nights.

I never knew my life would be in a haze

Or that my soul would never again see the light.

  From stable to stable

  My body traveled through time.

  Some trainers were capable

And others dropped me like a dime.

One year I would be fit and trim

And the next year I hungered for even one flake.

My life was at one time grim

But the faith I had inside, I didn't forsake.

Hard bits were pulled against my soft mouth.

Too tight, the girth that was strapped around me.

A rickety old shed I stood beneath

And pesky flies that wouldn't let me be.

One day when I watched the sun rise.

I saw a man with a tiny child.

My owner told them it wouldn't be wise

To own me, I was too wild.

The child so eager and sweet

  Her father could not resist.

  And when our eyes met

I knew what my new life would consist.

My poor soul was so tired and worn.

  I didn't fight like I used to.

  My family's heart was torn

As they looked upon my ragged form.

Each new sunrise she comes to see me.

I get good hay, groomed and well loved.

I finally realized that God had let me be redeemed.

That I would be loved not pushed and shoved.

  Not all my precious friends

  Are as lucky as me.

But sometime in our lives but closer to the end

We will all be set free.

  Regaining Trust

My friend who I have grown so near.

Holds a burden so tightly around his heart.

That the soul I carry inside me weeps silent tears.

As the emotions of love begins to start.

Only time and understanding can cure the hurt.

That has been built up from the past.

  Always on the alert

And ready to wear that stone face again.

  You are half the heart

That beats so tenderly in my breast.

I hope we will never part

Or I fear a wonderful journey will be missed.

I only ask one thing from your fragile soul.

Please let me be the light that will heal

  The deep and darkened hole.

  Survival

  Trod lightly upon my heart.

For tears fall from the tormented scars.

  Collected from my past

And pain grips it like steel bars.

  Call to my damaged soul.

If you really want to live.

It hides just inside of the darkness,

With so much promise to give.

The light of my life cries.

The waves of emotions must be steadied.

To the gentle sway of the might oak,

  To be prepared and readied.

A love waits in the depths.

That shines when nutured and cared for.

Walk with me to find in once again

And be one, to fear evil no more.

Then maybe you can again trust what you fell.

  The Christmas Horse

A little girl kneels down beside her bed

To pray to the heavens beyond her.

She touches her hand to her head.

Her heart, then to each shoulder.

  Looking into the night's sky

That could make a person go blind.

She saw her wish star fly by

And happy thoughts crossed her mind.

She dreamed of fresh falling snow

  And icicles hanging from trees.

In her heart of hearts she knows

That her prayer will be answered, not flee.

The morning is full of wonder.

As she looked toward the barn.

She ran down the stairs with such a clatter

That it gave her grandfather a new story to yarn.

On with her boots and jacket.

  Hardly a glance to anyone.

And off like a cosmic rocket

To see if Santa listened or if he had missed this one.

Listening closely to let a clue slip through.

She held her breath as well as she could do.

To her surprise she heard that certain n
oise and knew.

That her prayer was answered and not torn in two.

Standing before her as large as life.

Was the horse of her dreams.

Their souls met with external strife

And their hearts began to beam.

For they are friends forever and ever.

To grow up and become one.

With life and games to conquer and endeavor

And from that moment on, it has begun.

  Good Morning

As I travel down the road

  To do the morning chores.

  A light misty air surrounds

  The place I call home.

  I stop for a moment

And take in the morning air.

I close my eyes to feel

  The heat of the sun.

As I stand, a very familiar sound

  Fills my ears.

I hear the voice of my

  Old and dear friend.

Low and wise, he speaks to me.

Letting me know that he is

  Ready for breakfast.

Together we walk to his home

He nudges me gently wishing me,

  Good Morning!

  The Sun Horse

The sun catches a fiery image.

Of a creature as old as time.

So beautiful and gracious is he.

One day he will be mine.

His body is as gold as mid day's sun.

His flowing hair is as white as the north's snow.

Charging forth upon this tender earth.

His hooves leave a trail of fire as he goes.

Nobility and strength lie with his heart.

Conquering all challenges that appear in his wake.

  Defeating what may harm him

And protect those who have dealt with his fate.

The sun horse brings happiness to life.

Shedding light into the darkened heart.

  The tears of children disappear

Before they are allowed to start.

  Sunny Brook Farm

  On the outskirts of town.

  There is a tiny farm.

  Surrounded by mountains

  And clouds all around.

  In a misty morning

  Through a gleam of light.

  Shadows of horses

  Appear within sight.

  Soft light whinnies

  From newborn foals.

  Grace us with hope

  That only heaven knows.

  Its been hard work

For many years and a day.

  Mucking the stalls

  And gathering summers hay.

  Children have been taught

  To love and respect.

  Trust and cherish

  The horses they just met.

  Throughout the year

  Many have won

  Trophies and ribbons

  They're work has just begun.

  The legacy will live on.

  Forever and ever.

  Full of hopes and dreams

In the hearts of the young.

  On the outskirts of town

  At a little farm.

  Known to all as

  Sunny Brook Farm.

  Firelyn Velvet Mist

  Firelyn Velvet Mist

  Was to be his name.

  A fine bay colt

Who will bring many to fame.

His heritage is old and great.

  Chasely Superman

  Woodsville Derby Day.

From them a champion was made.

  At three years old

  He moved to Sunnybrook Farm.

  To become a great stud

  From here and afar.

  He touched many lives

  Even still to this day.

  Sending the ones he loves

  Legends and dreamscapes.

  You can see his

  Courage and pride

  Skill and grace

In every foal that was sired and raised.

  The beauty he bares

  Is one in a million.

  Firelyn Velvet Mist

  The exquisite Morgan stallion.

  The Wait and Reward

I linger to hear the soft sound

Of a very familiar and angelic creature.

Though my heart knows it can be found.

My eyes fail me as my teacher.

I anticipate the arrival of my loved one.

And in the distance I notice shards of sunlight.

The day is whispering and has begun.

Disappearing is the long lonely night.

I close my eyes and open my heart.

To listen to things in which my eyes deceive.

It is but only a moment that it starts.

The gentle breathing, my mind finally conceives.

I carefully open my lids a whisker.

Lusciously consuming the sight before me.

She dances and her tail whips and flickers.

My heart quickens so, I thought it would flee.

Standing slowly so not to alarm her.

I wait for her to accept me as her own.

Our eyes meet and my soul begins to flutter.

For my human side she does condone.

She is of the earth, water and sky.

Filled with undying wisdom and admirable love.

Her kind have survived since the beginning of time.

Even long after I have gone up above.

  Her name is Equine.

The body she possesses is brilliant red.

The purest of her soul is divine.

And the hearts of many she does tread.

  Horses of the Valley

As I walk through the village of ponies.

I stop to listen to nature's symphony.

And to my amazement I find

A small hoof print held in time.

  I follow the laden path.

  Up the steep incline.

  The spirit of the earth

Moves closer to what I will find.

  The wind gently sweeps

  Through the distant land.

And holds silent what it keeps,

  Hidden within its tender hand.

  I hear a sudden cry

  From the valley below.

The stallion is what I spy

  With his mares in tow.

  Like lightning from God's hand

They race into the setting sun.

  Spreading magic in the air

As their hearts beat as one.

  Nature's Keeper

  The mornings golden shards

  Pierce through nature's hidden path.

Allowing one of its small God's

To travel through this great land.

  Small and spry.

As white as the new days cloud.

She appears like a ghost in the mist.

  Without making a sound.

  Old and wise.

  Travel where she may.

Her heart belongs to only one

  And there she shall remain.

The forest is where she calls home.

Never again will she work in a day.

  Nature's Keeper will protect her

From spirits who would come her way.

  Son of the Plains

  A full moon whispers above

  The great mountains tip.

  The wind dances gingerly

Across the plains as a deer takes a sip.

  A small winged friend

Glances toward the rustling of a bush.

  To see roan mare

  Interrupt the silent hush.

The mare, she takes her time.

  To find a hidden place.

For which she will have her foal.

Who will, with the wind it shall race.

Pain and survival rack her tiny frame.

But the loving instinct she holds so dear.

  For her unborn colt

Keeps her head and heart clear.
<
br />   With the dawning of the new day.

She brings forth the proud son of the plains.

He is as red as the autumns setting sun

And his heart and soul here they will remain.

  Kitty Kate

  She greets me each morn

With a nicker and a purr.

  And reaches for me

  To pat her soft fur.

  White with red freckles

  An attitude of a bull.

  But can be so sweet

My heart strings, she does pull.

  Curry and comb.

  Clicker and treat.

  My cup runth over

  And spills onto my feet.

  She is my oldest friend

And I learn from her still.

  Though she can not see

  She has a strong will.

  This lovely Kitty Kate

  As she is called.

  She is cherished and loved

  By one and all.

  Symetri

She moves in time with the wind.

Graceful and calculating like time in sand.

  Beauty so captivating and serene.

Its known all over the land.

Her heart is as mighty as the lion

And her soul as innocent as a lamb.

And is one with Mother Nature

  Just as I myself am.

The twinkle of stars that sparkle so bright

Outline her path to the holy heavens above.

To spread forth what she holds inside.

  Which is unconditional love.

Forever we shall be as one.

Two soul mates from now to eternity.

  With many trials and tragedies

  To contend with for infinity.

  The Princess of the Wind

Her soul belongs to the sands of Arabia.

The heart that beats inside of her

Travels with the wind of her anicent land.

Her spirit will be free forever.

The old ones say that there is,

But one rider for every great horse.

And hers is a man of great knowledge.

They are as one with love as their source.

Fire and wings are placed beneath her hooves.

With the grace of dolphins guding her heart.

She travels over the earth with ease.
