Stone was dying for a chance to see Samosa. He would do anything. ANYTHING to kiss her, hold her tight and make love to her, but he couldn’t do that with Korin and those funky prayer spells all around him. Keeping him in and her- out.
There was only one way to get to her. She couldn’t wish him there or wish this monkey off his back for the life of him because once stripped of powers by the GM wishes for a jinni’s recuperation were zippo.
He spotted the clear vase on the table and other things that reflect images: a mirror in the hall. Windows. Some light spilled through. What was she doing now? He licked his lips at the thought of her in that tight green dress from Christmas. Lyle better stay away from her or I will kill him. Korin will just have to clean up his bones. Stone chuckled at the thought.
“Maybe I will devour his bones too. He’s a low life anyway.”
Picking himself up from the floor, he thought of the one thing he could do to break free of the invisible barrier closing him in. It was diabolical to say the least and so beneath him. Only one person can bypass a barrier of both evil and holy prayers.
He called upon the name of the unique human.
This name was a symbol but only Stone could pronounce it. It was a long story he’d rather forget, but as soon as he cleared his mind and spoke the name, there was a knock at the door.
When he answered, there stood a dark skinned bald boy appearing to be the age of no more than twelve with freakish green eyes. “Step on in.” Stone moved so the tiny young man could cross the threshold.
Which was something he could not do, but Green Eyes did very well. Anywhere.
“Ummm, this looks familiar. Why get in jam again?”Spoken in broken English, Green Eyes looked all round him, probably sensing the spells and prayers. His African accent coupled with his innocent face made him an cute enigma. But Stone knew his great power. The boy could see through barriers and can erase them easily.
Stone ran a hand through his now matted tresses. “I kind of flipped out and was about to kill…” He stopped himself and thought of the fear on Samosa’s face when Korin told her to run. He can control himself. Can’t he?
“Look, I just need this barrier to melt away and let me pass. Just for one day. I need to see her.”
Green Eyes held up a hand. “You don’t need to see her. I feel Korin wants you here for a good reason.”
The boy knew everything.
“I understand that. But I summoned you here to help me get out not to agree with him.”
A sly grin spread across the African boy’s features. His eyes shone with mischief. “Then what will you give me, Stone of the Ice Rings?”
Here we go.
“Look, I can give you a lot of money. Name your price.”
The young boy grabbed his stomach and bent over laughing hysterically. “Now what will I do with money?” He finally got his bearings and fixed his eyes on Stone with humor leaving his black face. “I have no need for money. I want something else.”
“Name it then.” Stone grew impatient with the little Witch Monster. Said Monster took small steps, looked at the clean whiteness of the house.
“Come to think of it. I want nothing from you. Not now anyway.” The boy leveled his gaze at Stone’s face. “You clearly have everything you want. Except you are depressed, disturbed.” He sighed. “I will help you but even my gift has been given a signature as of late.”
Stone was happy with the news and some part of him did not care about the “signature” tidbit. He asked anyway.
“Signature?”
“Korin, the GM, they all smell my trail. So I make this quick.”
Stone nodded, shook his hair into a billowing black cloud of semi submission. Ready for his next step with Samosa.
The little boy shook his entire body as if in convulsion and Stone saw white flecks flee off the edges of his small body. With eyes lit like flaming gemstones, he blew a gust of air, similar to a miniature tornado and whirled 360 degrees, cooling the house until the temperature dropped several degrees.
