She didn’t wake until she smelled someone walking up to the castle.
Starr did her best to dig her way out of the pile of rubble. And when she made it out, her jaw dropped. All around her was fields and trees; above was nothing but blue sky.
Many feet below, Marla and Shane stood beside a strange man with a large mustache. The looks on their faces was of complete shock.
“W-What? What?” was all Marla could get out.
The man turned and pulled a phone from his pocket and called the police. Angrily, he shouted in Romania that they send two cars and a couple men. But when they asked what the emergency was, he was nearly speechless.
Starr jumped to the ground while his back was turned. Then she turned and looked at the enormous pile of rubble.
The only thing that stood was the gate.
“Why, Starr? That is Minister Gabor,” Marla said and motioned to the man yelling into his phone. “You’re going to be arrested!”
“Don’t be silly,” Starr said and laughed.
Fifteen minutes later, the flashing lights of police cars made their way to the property and without explanation, handcuffed her and took her to the city jail.
