Tom smirked. “Oh, really, baby girl?”

  “Uh-huh.”

Tyler’s hand slipped down her flesh and rested on her hip. “I think we could arrange something.” He ground his hips against her. She didn’t miss how his cock hardened as it rubbed along the seam of her ass.

Tom, also hard, rolled her on top of him and reached between her legs. “She’s already wet, Ty. Why don’t we fill our girl really good tonight. Get the lube.”

  “Right!”

Tom’s fingers rubbed her clit, drawing soft moans from her as she felt her pussy clench, even more moisture flooding her cunt. Tom lifted her, impaling her on his cock. “That’s better,” he said as he went back to fingering her clit.

Tyler returned with the lube and pushed her down onto Tom’s chest. His voice sounded thick and hoarse with need. “Stick that beautiful arse in the air so I can fuck it, love.”

He took his time prepping her, finger-fucking her ass with first one, then two, then three fingers. He stretched her, the pleasant pinch stoking her passion even more, making her pussy clench around Tom’s cock buried inside her.

“Goddamn it, Ty, hurry up. I’m gonna come just from the way she’s squeezing me.”

“Patience, loves.” Eventually, his fingers withdrew and he replaced them with his cock. The warm, swollen head pushed forward, past the first ring of muscle, and made her whine with need. She wanted him deep inside her, both cocks pounding her. Once his cock was completely fisted by her tight ass, he sat up and pulled her with him. He cupped her breasts in his hands and started plucking at her nipples. “All right, is that better?”

Nevvie couldn’t speak. It felt too damn good. She nodded, letting her head drop back to rest on Tyler’s shoulder. Tom’s fingers returned to her clit. Helpless to move, the men pulled first one, then two orgasms out of her, intensified by both hard cocks stretching and filling her.

  “Please,” she gasped, “fuck me!”

“Ah, my sweet angel is begging,” Tyler teased. “I don’t think you’ve begged quite enough yet.”

“Please fuck me. I want to feel you both come inside me.”

“Ty,” Tom said, “let’s give the lady what she wants. If she keeps talking like that, I’m gonna come anyway.”

“Very well.” He pushed her down on top of Tom again and started a slow, grinding fuck, every stroke pressing Tom’s cock into her G-spot. Beneath her, Tom also started moving slowly inside her, hitting her clit as well.

She bit down on Tom’s shoulder to muffle her cries as she came again, this time harder than the others, her body beyond her control as her cunt milked their cocks.

“That’s it, love,” Ty grunted. He started fucking her harder, faster, making her moan. She heard and felt his balls slapping against her with each thrust. A fine patina of sweat covered her. The light dusting of hair on Tom’s chest rubbed against her nipples, creating even more erotic friction.

“You gonna come again, baby girl?” Tom asked as he dug his fingers into her hips and started thrusting harder.

She did, closing her eyes and letting go, letting passion completely take over as the men fucked her harder and faster.

She felt Tom’s cock in her pussy grow even harder, swelling and throbbing. “Get ready,” he grunted. He buried himself in her even more deeply one last time as his cock throbbed and shot his cum inside her.

“Yes!” Tyler gasped, spilling his load in her ass. Tyler braced himself with his arms, trying not to fall on her. All of them lay there, sweating, panting, and fully satisfied.

Nevvie winced a little when Tyler pulled out and went to clean up. He brought a washcloth for her. Then they snuggled in bed together.

  “Better?” Tom asked.

“Uh-huh.” She let out a happy sigh. “Much better.”

The next day, Nevvie drove Kyle and Jacob to the cemetery. The three of them sat in front of Michael Barton’s gravestone. Jacob held the urn cradled in his lap.

“She still loved him,” Jacob said. His eyes looked red, although Nevvie hadn’t seen him shed a tear that morning. “She told us a couple of weeks ago when we were talking to her and asking her questions after you left. She said she didn’t regret having us, because she loved us. But that she never stopped loving Michael.” He looked at Kyle.

Kyle nodded. “She apologized to us for moving us out there. She said she wished she’d just stood up to…that man and took us three kids and left him.” Nevvie noticed that neither man said Jim’s name any more often than necessary. “I get why she did it. I don’t blame her for it, but I don’t agree with it, either. I would have rather the three of us kids been together with her and struggling to get by than stuck out there and struggling to get by.”

“She missed you, Nevvie,” Jacob said. “She cried so much after you left. I think it broke her heart. I know it’s small consolation now, and neither one of us would blame you if you hated her for what she did, but I don’t think she ever forgave herself, either.”

They sat there for a few minutes. Nevvie quietly asked a question that had swirled through her mind. “Do you ever want to find your father?”

“No,” both men said, forcefully and in unison.

“I couldn’t care less what happens to him,” Jacob said. “He broke up our family. Screw honoring your parents. He’s done nothing to deserve being honored.” He took a deep breath and looked at Nevvie. “I really think the main reason he made Mom give you up was because he saw you as a threat.”

  “What? I was fifteen.”

“Yeah,” Kyle said, “but you were all Mom had left of Michael besides pictures. That was a bond he couldn’t control.” Kyle’s gaze returned to the headstone. “Your father was a thousand times more the man ours is. Ours wasn’t worth shit.”

After sitting and talking for a while longer, Kyle and Jacob opened the urn and carefully spread Mary’s ashes into the grass in front of the grave marker. Nevvie had already visited the cemetery office and made arrangements to have a marker for her added.

“Well,” Jacob quietly said, “they’re finally together again. She’s at peace.”

Kyle nodded. “Nev, you don’t have any idea how much it means to us, not just everything you’ve done for us to help us, but coming to find her. And coming out to visit her…you know.” He sniffled. “I think she was holding on in hopes that maybe you would come. Once she got to see you one more time…” He shrugged. “Maybe that’s stupid. I don’t know.”

“It’s not stupid,” Nevvie said. “Maybe she did. I’m glad I was able to make peace with her. I spent a lot of years angry and hurt.” She took a deep breath. “I didn’t have it easy. I had some bad luck followed by bad choices, and it nearly got me killed. If I hadn’t met Ty and Tommy, I don’t know if I’d even be here today.”

“We won’t let you down,” Kyle said. It was something both men had repeated to her countless times.

She reached out and held both their hands. “I know. We’re a family. And family sticks together.”

  Chapter Twenty-Seven

Nevvie returned to Savannah three days later. She missed her kids, and she missed Mom and Dad. At least she was able to have dinner with John, Kelly, and Laurie before she left. After Laurie left the table, Nevvie quietly confided to John and Kelly what was going on with the Alex situation.

John looked murderous. “Tomorrow after I get off work, I’ll take you over to the gun shop I use. We’ll get you set up.”

Nevvie struggled and finally succeeded in not laughing at him. He might not understand her amusement was due to loving how concerned he was over her welfare. “I’m not much of a gun person, John. I’m sorry. Maybe if it drags on for a while. I’m still hoping they’ll catch him soon. When they do, he’ll go back to jail for his full sentence, plus possibly longer if they add on new charges.”

He frowned. “I still don’t like it. You and those babies need to be protected.”

“It’ll be okay. There’s no way he can trac
k us to Savannah.”

Kyle and Jacob had jumped into their new jobs and were impressing Kenny. Tom and Tyler would be along in a few days with the RV after they helped Kyle and Jacob move into their new apartment near their house. It wasn’t the fanciest complex around, but it was in a safe neighborhood and within the men’s budgets.

They were already exploring their options regarding education.

Nevvie couldn’t be prouder of them.

Adam was flying a kite with Andrew in the backyard when she arrived. Mikey was sitting in his playpen on the porch with Peggy.

Nevvie waved to Adam and Andrew before sitting on the porch swing with Peggy. “It’s good to be home,” Nevvie said.

  “Home?”

“Yeah. With my family. I think I learned something from all this. I mean the RV trip and everything.”

“Not to let Tyler help empty the dump tank?”

  “Besides that.”

“Adam says not to wake Tyler up and tell him there’s a bison by the RV.”

Nevvie laughed. “True, but not the point I had in mind.”

  “And what would that be?”

Nevvie smiled. “Home isn’t any one place. It’s with them, it’s with you. It’s with Tommy and Tyler.”

“You’re not thinking about turning in to a gypsy are you? Start roaming the country with the men and the boys in that RV?”

Nevvie vigorously shook her head. “Oh, no. Hell no. But I think tomorrow I’m going to start looking at property.”

“You should talk to Ben Jones next door. He was talking about selling and moving to Michigan to be closer to his kids.”

  “Really?”

Peggy nodded. “When he told me that, I told him I’d send you his way.” She smiled.

Nevvie hugged her. “That would be fantastic!”

“Y’all wouldn’t even have to build, if you didn’t want to. His house is older, but it’s not in bad shape.”

“I’ll go talk to him tomorrow. I want to rest tonight. And I’m starving.”

“You’re in luck. Andy’s making shepherd’s pie for dinner.”

  “Andy?”

Peggy didn’t respond, but her barely concealed grin didn’t fool Nevvie in the least.

“You know, Karen, I never thought I’d say this, but I’m beginning to hate cake.” Nevvie stared at the samples in front of them. They still had five more to go. Peggy and Andrew had begged off going to stay home with the boys and their guests.

“Hey, you’re my maid of honor. You have to help me do this. I don’t want to get fat alone.”

Nevvie burped. “Excuse me.” She patted her stomach. “I’m going to gain a hundred pounds at this rate. You’re killing me. First the caterer, now this.” Her stomach rolled again. It had settled down in the days following her return from Sheridan, but now, a week since she’d returned to Savannah, it had started up again.

She wasn’t sure if it was the wedding food sampling with Karen or the lack of news on Alex’s whereabouts that had triggered the latest round of indigestion.

  “Misery loves company, kiddo.”

“After the cookout this weekend, I’m going to be a wreck.”

Karen tried another cake sample, immediately made a face, and pushed it away. “Nope. Don’t even try that one. Are Kyle and Jacob riding up with Tommy and Ty?”

“Yeah. Kenny’s closing up shop for four days since the Fourth’s on a Monday this year. They’ll be here sometime tonight. Tyler’s going to stay for a few days before he goes back to Tampa for a book signing.” John, Kelly, and Laurie had arrived the evening before to spend the weekend as well. Laurie had asked for and received permission to spend several weeks in Savannah with Nevvie and her two nephews. Nevvie looked forward to spending time with her little sister. With John now officially retired from the Air Force, they could relax and enjoy the weekend with their new extended family, too.

“I heard Momma on the phone with Tommy. She put the kibosh on him and John lighting fireworks down by the pond.”

“I don’t blame her. I told Tommy I didn’t want him setting off fireworks, either.”

“You all right? You don’t look like you feel good.”

Nevvie shook her head. “I don’t feel good. I’m sorry, but I can’t eat anymore.”

“Maybe you should go take a gun class. Let John help you. Might put your mind at ease.”

“I want to get through the summer and your wedding and buying the new house.”

“This’ll cheer you up. Guess what I saw last night?”

  “What?”

Karen’s grin looked nearly painful. “Momma and Andrew were sitting on the porch swing. He had his arm around her shoulders.”

  “So?”

  “He kissed her.”

Nevvie gasped. “You were spying on them?”

“Not technically. I was in the kitchen washing dishes. They were right there.”

  “So what kind of kiss?”

“A kiss,” Karen insisted. “I mean a good one.” Andrew and Peggy had gone out alone on several dates. “A spit-swapping, tonsil-tickling—”

“All right!” Nevvie held up her hand. “I get it. They’ve got the hots for each other.” Her stomach rolled again, and this time she excused herself and got up, barely making the bathroom before she threw everything up.

A few minutes later, on shaky legs, Nevvie returned to the table.

  “Nevvie, what’s wrong?”

“I don’t know.” She took a drink of water. “How do you feel?”

  “What are you talking about?”

“Do you feel sick to your stomach or anything?”

  “No. Why?”

“I just threw up.” Nevvie took a couple of deep breaths. She still felt a little shaky but not as bad. “I just wondered if I got food poisoning or something. Or maybe it’s an ulcer. My stomach’s been acting up the past couple of weeks.”

“No wonder, with all that bullshit about Alex and with Mary dying. I’m surprised you’re not in a loony bin.”

  “That makes two of us.”

“We’ll stop by the drugstore when we’re done, if you want. Get you some antacid.”

“Thanks.” She gingerly pushed the other cake samples away from her.

“Well, it could always be worse,” Karen said as she tried another sample. “At least you’re not pregnant.” Karen laughed.

Nevvie started to laugh with her when her brain began calculating when exactly her last period was. With everything that had happened, she had completely lost track of things.

  “Nevvie? What’s wrong.”

With a growing sense of horror, Nevvie realized she couldn’t remember when her last period was, but she was certainly overdue. “Oh, no,” she whispered.

“What?” When Nevvie didn’t answer her, Karen reached out and grabbed her arm. “Nevvie, you’re scaring me. What’s wrong?”

Nevvie felt tears pricking her eyes. “We need to go to the drugstore. Right now.”

  * * * *

Nevvie went with Karen back to her apartment. She didn’t want to do this at Peggy’s house with everyone there. On the one hand, Nevvie hadn’t planned to be a mom again, but it wasn’t out of the question. On the other, she worried by not taking good care of herself, and with all the stress she’d been under, if it might not cause a problem if she was.

Karen stood outside the bathroom door. “Honey, if you are or aren’t, it’s okay.”

With shaking hands, Nevvie took the test. It must have been the sound of her crying that made Karen come in. She took the test strip from Nevvie, compared it to the box for the result, then hugged her.

  “It’s okay, Nev.”

“But I’ve been on the pill! Christ, I’ve had wine, I’ve taken stuff for headaches. What if that causes a problem? And what about the problems I had when Mikey was born?”

“What if it doesn’t? Look, don’t panic, okay? And the doctor didn’t tell you not to have any more babies. He told you
that if you did, they had to be C-section.” She took Nevvie out to the living room and settled her on the couch. Karen fixed her a cup of hot tea and sat with her. “Why don’t I call Momma and ask her to come over here?”

Nevvie nodded. “Okay,” she softly said. “But don’t tell her what’s wrong.”

Peggy arrived a half hour later. She took one look at Nevvie’s face. “What happened? What’s wrong?” She sat next to Nevvie and hugged her.

Karen showed her mom the pregnancy test.

She looked at Karen, then Nevvie. “I’m going to take a wild guess here that it’s Nevvie and not you.”

“It’s me, Mom,” Nevvie quietly said.

“Sugar, why are you so upset?”

Nevvie outlined her fears and the reasons why.

“Oh, honey, don’t you worry.” She hugged Nevvie again. “This’ll be just fine.”

Nevvie rode home with Peggy. “I’ve got to tell the boys,” she said in the car.

“Well, yeah, I’d guess so. It’s not going to be an easy thing to keep a secret like Adam with Harley.”

Okay, that did make Nevvie smile. Her son had kept up with his promise to help care for the puppy. Andrew was taking Adam and Harley to puppy training classes at a local pet store.

“When are you going to call them?” Peggy asked.

“Oh, no. I’m not telling Tyler while they’re on the road. He’s probably driving Tommy crazy already. I don’t need him adding to it.”

“You’re right. Probably a wise idea to wait.”

“If my mind wasn’t made before, now it is.”

  “About what?” Peggy asked.

“Moving here. I don’t want to be anywhere around Tampa now until they catch Alex.” She smoothed her hands over her belly. “I won’t give him a chance to hurt my baby. Any of them.”

  * * * *

Nevvie asked Peggy to keep the news quiet. She did, but she also made some calls for Nevvie and found a local ob-gyn who could see her next week. It was several nerve-wracking hours later when she heard the RV, followed by Tyler’s car, pull into the yard. Tom had managed to load Nevvie’s car on the car hauler and had towed it up for her as well. She wanted it there so Dad could have a car of his own to use.
