each other shortly. I’m finishing up my last project here then I’ll head straight home and start getting ready.” I said.

“Sounds perfect queen, talk to you soon.” Rome said hanging up the phone.

I instantly melted all the way into my seat while looking at Kim who was now sitting at the edge of my desk with the biggest smile on her face. Suddenly, we both began to scream as Kim grabbed my hands and pulled me up from the chair.

“GIRL—YOU GOT A DATE—PLUS HE CALLED YOU QUEEN!!!” Kim exclaimed.

“I know girl right—this was your idea so if it all goes wrong I’m going to blame it all on you.” I said looking at Kim who was still dancing around the office.

“Nothing’s going to go wrong. You just be sure to have a good time tonight and remember to not take those high standards and ridiculous rules with you on that date tonight. Be open to finding love because to find love, you must be love. Never forget that.” Kim said as she placed her hand on my shoulder.

“Where did you hear that quote from one of those books by that author you worship?” I said letting out a small chuckle.

“In fact, I did; and for your information his name is Joseph Rivers and the book is called Lost Souls. I’m going to get you a copy—you just might learn a thing or two about the power of love.” Kim said as she exited the office.

Once the door closed behind Kim, I walked back over to the window and began to visualize how this date with Rome would actually go.

One thing that I knew for sure was that Kim was absolutely right. I had to free myself from expectations, rules, and standards. It was time that I live in the moment and not fear the power of love but embrace it—not allowing my past experiences to dictate my future.

  The first date…

AFTER FININSING UP AT THE OFFICE, I quickly rushed home to get ready for my date with Rome. I stayed at the office a little later than expected due to a new idea that came to me for Freedom Unveiled that I wanted to brainstorm on. I was actually planning to run the idea by Rome to get some creative feedback.

After applying my makeup, I picked up my phone to check the time. I was surprised to see that it was already 6:00pm and I hadn’t even chosen which dress I would wear. I headed toward my closet still scrolling through my phone when a text message from Rome appeared on my screen:

Be on my way soon Noni—got your address in your text—can’t wait to see you
