Jon was down in the dumps and just shuffled around the kitchen and living area, pouting. Kimberly was understanding, but was getting a little sick of it. She continued on preparing a lunch for herself and for the now incapacitated Jon. He had been like this since last night—since Alison had dumped him —and he was obsessing about it.

"Look Jon," she said. "You've got to snap out of this. It was always going to happen. You are different people."

Jon didn't respond. Through the kitchen window, a passing bicycle quickly caught his attention but he quickly returned to obsessing about Alison. Sitting in the living room he was stalking her Facebook profile. He noticed that she had already adjusted her status to ‘single’.

  "Oh fuck," he exclaimed.

"What?" replied Kimberly, a little alarmed by Jon's tone.

"She's changed her relationship status to single," he wailed.

"JON," shouted Kimberly. "Just fucking get over it, you don’t need her. Look Jon, I can’t stand you at the moment. I'm going out soon and I am worried. Look, I'm not here to look after you."

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me," he said in a low, controlled tone.

"Ok then… look, I'm going to go into Shinsaibashi to do some shopping and I'll be catching up with Marley. I'll give you the latest when I get back OK?"

"Ok," replied Jon in his monosyllabic best.

Kimberly served lunch to Jon, and then took hers to her room. She ate quickly, showered, dressed then came down downstairs, leaving the dishes in the sink on the way out and left without saying goodbye.
