James got a call to meet his father in Hawaii. When he arrived his father handed him a contract. After three days of analysis, and changes they handed it back to the corporation CEO. He then pulled out another contract and started comparing paragraphs. With a laugh he handed James both back and said, “Our lawyers calculated what you would change. Check this copy against your changes and then we'll sign them.”
“Dad, they are simply offering us a million each before taxes on the first trip, then our percentage on all further mining trips. Will you and Sam accept that?”
“Son, do the percentages continue to our heirs?”
“Yes Dad, your and Sam's percentages are guaranteed for twenty trips. There is also a paragraph stating that if they set up a space station or colony in the asteroid belt Sam and I, and our heirs will be given priority to move there. That's something we didn't even consider. Sam and I also now own ten shares of stock in the new corporation. I don't see any other changes and no traps.”
