DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC/GLOBAL — Who Will Die? Recast Alert! Eve Donovan Back?!

  • DAYS may have lost a lot of talent this season, but like any great show, they’re moving forward by digging up some old faves! Siren Charlotte Ross hinted she’s in talks to reprise her role as Eve Donovan, Shane’s daughter. She tweeted on Friday November 22, "Awesome mtg w/ Greg Meng & Christopher Whitesell at #NBC today talking about #DaysofourLives & #EveDonovan... AMAZING men! ;) @nbcdays #DOOL." Jen Lilley, who plays Eve's paternal half-sister, Theresa, tweeted, "Wow @charlotteross is amazing! Fingers crossed " Ross was last on DAYS in 1991. Make it happen, Salem!

  • Did Drake Hogestyn come close to quitting acting? It sounds like it from a recent DIGEST interview. The superstar says, “I was wrapping my head around this new phase in my life. I had an epiphany. [The recent DAYS: BETTER LIVING Book Tour] was pretty much my farewell tour to thank everybody for their love and support.” Luckily, DAYS called the actor before he moved to his native Indiana from California. Whew.

  • There’s no need to atone here: How amazing has Greg Vaughan been in the past two weeks after Eric learned he was raped by Kristen at her wedding to Brady – which he was officiating! Somewhere James E. Reilly is like, “Damn!” Let’s hope Vaughan is finally recognized Emmy time. He totally deserves to be in the top five Supporting Actor nominees. DAYS could have easily screwed this recast up, especially considering the fact that they made Eric a priest. But instead, DAYS told one of the best priest storylines in daytime history by taking its time reintroducing Eric to the audience and setting up a whopper of a climax to a year-long storyline. Bravo! I’d get on my knees and pray to Father Eric any day of the week. And I’m not even religious!

  • DAYS is recasting Sydney! Here’s the casting breakdown:

[SYDNEY] 5 year old TWIN BLUE EYED FEMALES.  Must be identical. Must be able to handle dialogue and emotion and listen to have authentic reactions. RECURRING; UNDER FIVE ROLE AT SCALE.

And not be enamored with James Scott’s beautiful face.

Also: Someone in Salem is about to hire a hitman! Here’s the breakdown:

[HITMAN] 30-50 year old EDGY good looking MAN with DISTINCTIVE VOICE. All ethnicities. Hitman is the best in the business as cool as a cucumber, man of few words and as lethal as they come.  He is extremely dangerous but one would not suspect it at first glance. It is in the way he speaks, what he doesn't say and how he holds himself. Please be very SPECIFIC IN YOUR SUBMISSIONS. Looking for interesting ideas. Multiple show; principal role.

  • In story 411, someone dies! Here are the potential corpses (if DIGEST is to be believed and it’s not a bait-and-switch): Kate, Gabi, Sami, Will, Sonny and Nick. My bet? Nick. But he’s alive, which will send Gabi off the canvas considering she hurt him with a rock. In other news, Brady and EJ fight over Kristen’s whereabouts. Thanks to Hope, Brady finds a clue in where Kristen could possibly be hiding out. Translation: At a hairstylist’s.

Meanwhile, across town, in Shame-lem, Nicole’s first TV assignment is to score an interview with Father Eric about his porn tape! D’oh. And Caroline rips Victor a new one for exposing Brady!

GENERAL HOSPITAL, CITYTV /ABC — The Slut Of Port Charles?

  • Hot rumour: Is Kim Zimmer joining GH? That would be all kinds of awesome, but it’s not happening. The buzz began when former WORLD TURNS Emmy winner Michael Park tweeted, “Congrats on the GH gig.”

The Emmy winner misunderstood a prior Zimmer posted which said, “On the road with WICKED and looking forward to GH! The show has been so good with the whole Robin return!"

  • The Good Triangle: In story 411, Robin is one step closer to being reunited with Patrick as Sabrina walks down the aisle to wed Ugly Betty. “It’s a collision course,” says head writer Ron Carlivati. Of course it is!

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, GLOBAL/CBS — FlyGate: Steve Burton’s Latest Scandal

  • As previously reported, Emmy winner Billy Miller has opted to leave Y&R. He will be replaced by fellow Emmy winner David Tom, who made the role famous from 1999-2002.

A Y&R spokesperson says, "the show wanted Billy Miller to stay and worked hard to make that happen but we are going in another direction now. We are very excited to have David Tom back in the role. Not only is he a terrific actor, it will give us an opportunity to dig into our archives and use some of those great old Glow by Jabot flashbacks." Adds the rep: "We say a big thank you to Billy Miller and wish him well in all his future endeavors."

Miller will be film until Dec. 19. He will last be seen on the show Jan. 30. Meanwhile, Tom is scheduled to be reintroduced on Feb. 3. Hope he wears heels.

  • JFP attracts controversy wherever she goes! Last week, Twitter blew up when DAYTIME CONFIDENTIAL’s Jamey Giddens stated CBS or Sony was paying to fly in Steve Burton. Intel I have heard from my sources as well. Whether Sony/CBS expense Burton’s air travel or it’s been worked into his per episode pay rate is just a game of semantics. But if you don’t believe our sources, read the following interview Burton had with Sean Kanan on the GH star’s podcast: KANAN RULES.

  Steve Burton: Well —

  Kanan: I will move on.

Burton:  Here’s the deal, it was about a year ago I left, and you know,  I guess it was almost a situation where it was the boy who cried wolf. I was talking about moving to Tennessee for years. And It came a time where I put my house on the market. I literally had 60 days to let them know if I was staying or going and my house closed about three days before I had to give my notice. And I gave my notice, I sold my house and I don’t really think they thought I was leaving. Because I had talked about leaving for so long and not leaving and I sold my house and I thought that was a pretty good indication I was serious. And you know talks just never really got underway for flying in. You know, I had a fly-in deal when Jill was there, that we never executed, and after not a lot of response, from their side, I just said ok cool —

Kanan: You pulled the trigger and made a decision?

Burton: Yeah I’m outta here. I was moving anyway, I wanted to stay and I got to Nashville. And about two-and-a-half to three-months later, Y&R called, cause Jill’s [Farren Phelps] over there and she said, “You wanna fly in?” And I said, “Yeah, I’d love to".

Kanan:  Tell the truth, were you getting bored? Were you getting restless?

  Burton: [Laughs] You know I can’t —

  Kanan: Young and Restless..

Burton: [Laughs] I was getting restless. If I’m home for two weeks on the porch, I’m starting another business.  So —

  Michele Kanan: What’s that like?

Burton: We were in talks with Sony at the time for a novella with James Franco. I was working with him on some stuff, and it was really Sony —

Kanan: ‘Cause James Franco really needs another job. Right?

Burton: I know, he has like 27,000 jobs. So it was really Sony, the executives over there who said, “What would it take for Steve to come back or does he want to fly in. What’s the deal?” And my manager said, “Yeah he’d love to come in kinda part time and if that works for… I wasn’t here to hold anyone over the barrel, cause I was ready to leave and —

  Kanan: Walk away

  Burton: Walk away anyways.

Kanan: Which is the best position to be in.

Burton:  You put the shackles away like Sean Kanan told me.

  M. Kanan: [Laughs].

  Sean: [Laughs].

Burton:  If you have the power to say, “Hey I’m leaving” then that’s the best negotiating power you can have and Y&R said, “Sure we’ll fly you in”. I was hurt, I was sad for a long time.
