The Saturday following that Monday I sat on the couch flipping through a magazine. The week had gone well, and I had grown fairly used to my new surroundings. The backlash for my run in with Ms.Popular was tolerable and-to be honest-the least of my fears. I went through the week with constant glances over my shoulder, but the man didn’t appear again. A loud ding sounded through the house, alerting us that someone was at the door.

“I’ll get it,” Claire said, flipping off the TV. She rounded the corner and I heard the door open. A few minutes passed, a man’s voice made it’s way to my ears though I couldn’t make out the words. Then, I heard the door close.

“Who was that?” I asked Claire as she came back into the room. She just stood in silence. I looked up. Her face was pale, and she appeared off balance. Terror gleamed in her eyes.
