Read Out of Uca Page 4

I pulled out my sword, thrust it into the beast’s leg and yelled,

“What have you done with Meriwether, you brute? And where is all the gold you stole from the people of Uca all those years?”

  Oymrupa remained silent.

I pulled my sword from his leg and thrust it in again, and he roared with pain.

  “Answer me!”

The pitiful god shook visibly and the mountain shook with him.

“Meriwether is dead, and the gold is underground.”

  Epilogue

My life has never been the same since my adventure. I got to see places and creatures no one had ever seen before, and still have never seen to this day. I had experiences that changed me greatly. I felt emotions that I never knew existed. I felt love, terror, happiness, and anguish. And I still feel those emotions today.

After I conquered Oymrupa, with the help of Saca and Seaika of course, I traveled back to Uca. Saca managed to convince the natives to guard the imprisoned god while I traveled home. I wanted to let everyone know I was safe, that I had done it, that I had defeated the evil god. But I did not feel the happiness I had imagined when I returned. I was a hero, and my mother was reunited with her husband after 20 long years. But with Meriwether dead, I felt empty and decayed inside.

I eventually traveled back to Oronika with about one thousand men to help me harvest the gold from beneath the valley. It was there, just as Oymrupa said. I have to admit I felt great happiness knowing that the god, bound to the mountain side, had to watch his riches be taken from right under his very nose. I knew that he could easily have wiped us all out, had he been unbound. He was forced to suffer the observation of his most prized possession be transferred to its rightful owners.

Ikili was found hiding in a cave, not long after the gold had been harvested, looking very thin and frightened. He was bound atop the mountain just above Oymrupa.

Xnos gained back control of Uca, and I became his highest in command. Seaika became the palace dog, greatly loved by Xnos. My mother and father now live together in the same cottage I grew up in, and are very happy to have each other’s company once again. Saca became my wife, and we were married in the palace by Xnos.

This adventure changed my life forever, and I wish that it could have changed Meriwether’s life as well; but instead, it eliminated it. I have committed an act of killing that I can never live down for as long as I breathe, and I have never been the same to this day.

My name is Clark and I freed the people of Uca from their slavery. I went against all odds, and did what no one thought possible. People laughed, criticized, and mocked my idea, but I proved them wrong. It all started with courage, a plan, and a beloved friend.
