searched the lower floor to find their father and finally saw him in his private garden. They removed their boots and walked onto the carpet grass in their father’s garden as they walked up to the king. “Allan, Elis. You are not allowed to come into this garden” said Henriet bitterly to his two sons. Allan was thrown aback as his father has never said anything like that to him in a bitter way. The brothers than stepped out of the garden and back into the hall. Henriet entered the hall after the brothers did and sat down. “Father, are you feeling well and recovered now?” asked Allan. “Yes but the doctor has told me that I will continue to get fevers and coughing fits until I die” said Henriet. The king was not acting like himself, he seemed angered and negative. “Anyway, both of you ought to get some rest, bath and enjoy tonight because tomorrow, Allan you will appear before the court” said Henriet. “Go on and get out of here now, eat and bath. Leave me alone today my sons” said Henriet in another attempt for them to leave. That struck Allan straight through the heart, he had always felt his father’s love and for it not to be expressed, it was a lot for Allan to take. As they left their father in peace Allan observed Henriet wiping away a sudden tear. The princes went up the staircase and into their separate rooms to get ready for a bath.
Allan sat down on his bed in deep thought. Shortly after Elis stood at the doorway with a puzzled look on his face. “You? What could you possibly do that the state would not agree with” said Elis. “Elis I did bad things for something good” said Allan with great worry. “I can’t believe this. Tell me. What did you do?” asked Elis. “You’ll probably hate me even more after I tell you but long story short I made peace with the Trolls rather than fight them as I did not want massive casualties to be sustain on our side while fighting in the Darian Marsh. But soon I grew a liking to them. I befriended their people and I helped them establish a settlement in the Ranicus peninsula. Some Unodites were radically opposed, killing men and Trolls alike in a bid to thwart my plan. I killed all of those men who rose up” said Allan quietly and seriously. Elis took a deep breath and walked over to a wall and punched it. Angered he then said “you idiot. I always knew you were weak”. “It has nothing to do with weakness, it is just that some of can see beyond the divisions we have in our modern era. It was the right thing to do” said Allan, defending his actions with fearless gusto. “You still went against orders ad Unodite men. That is just asking for it” said Elis. “It was what I had to do and I am not regretting no matter what consequences I will face” said Allan. Elis then broke a smile and said “next week are our birthdays and he inauguration to decide which one of us is the next king of Hetheil. If you’re not allowed to become king because of this, once father is gone I’ll be king. Never did I think this would happen. You have just dug your own grave” said Elis arrogantly and somewhat jokingly. “It’s not like I am going to die, I still have a lot to do in Paradon. I believe I’ll just be exiled” said Allan, hoping for the best consequence. “Brother, living out there all by yourself is hard and it won’t be just three weeks like what we went through, it’ll be years to possibly your entire life” said Elis. “I can always go to the Troll settlement in the Ranicus peninsula. Their leader said I could come back anytime” said Allan. “The Troll settlement? The one you and your new friends built? The Unodites probably know how to get there and they probably want you and them dead because of what you’ve done. I know it. They will come for you” said Elis. “I’ll fight them then. I’ll show anyone who thinks I am weak, that it is actually otherwise” said Allan angrily. Elis looked Allan straight in the eye and said “you know; this is the first time I have admiration for you but that was really stupid for you to do”. Elis then left Allan’s room and went to his own. The brothers then decided to take a royal bath in the palace bath house. Cleansing their minds and not just bodies of the things they have seen and done.
Pavis, Elis’s rebellious companion, who had a fallout with Elis during the aftermath of the battle fought in the night at an oasis. He and Elis have been enemies since then and Pavis knows everything about the prince outside of his royal and military portrayal. He walked towards the palace gate. Nervous, but determined to expose Elis for he truly was, Pavis brought himself to gate. The fact that he was in soldier’s armour was going to help him. Immediately one of the guards went from the gate to confront him. “Fellow soldier, please dispense from the palace gate or I will dispense you myself” said the guard. “Look I don’t want any trouble but I have some information the king needs to hear” said Pavis with calm and respect. “Information? What information? You know I am really close to throwing you of the wall of this city” said the angered guard. “It is about Elis. He must hear it. He needs to know the danger that prince poses” said Pavis. “No. Leave now. A meeting with the king is above someone like you” said the guard. Until the king emerged from the door into the palace and out into the palace grounds. He then walked up to gate and asked “who is this soldier? Why is he at the gate?” “It’s no one important your highness, I’ll get him out of here” said the guard until he was interrupted by Pavis who yelled “my king, I must tell you what I know about your son, Elis. Please you need to know, I have no bad motive I would just like to share what I know with the highest authoriser in the land”. “Elis? What do you know about him? Come in and tell me” said Henriet. The guard without saying a word let him pass soundly through the gate.
The two then proceeded into the dining room. Pavis was born in poverty and to enter a palace was an experience he just found overwhelming. The king sat across from him. “So, what is your name?” asked the king. “My name is Pavis. First, Lumbre Redwood is alive and throughout the years Elis has been one of his students since he was a teenager. He has been training to one-day rule Hetheil whether you and or prince Allan agree. He has ambitions to rule of Livonia” said Pavis. “Lumbre Redwood!?” shouted Henriet in shock. “Yes, he is still alive and in Ohith” said Pavis. “It can’t be. And what was your relationship with him and Elis” asked the surprised king. “I was an orphan and pauper in the southern part of the city. Lumbre Redwood took me in and trained me since I was five. Elis was invited by Lumbre to our training area where he would join our training and lessons. There are another four who are disciples of Lumbre redwood, recently it dropped to three all from similar backgrounds.” said Pavis. “You are betraying someone you have trained with for a long period of your life, why?” asked Henriet. “There was an incident and since then I’ve just hated Elis. I was also the lowest in the group so I actually have nothing to lose by telling you this” said Pavis. Out of nowhere Elis came down the stairs and his eyes opened wide on the sight of seeing Pavis talking to Henriet.
“Father why are you talking to this scum in the palace? What on Paradon is this man doing here?” asked the shocked Elis. “Elis I have heard enough of what he has said. You will be alongside your brother tomorrow in court. Because from what I am getting, you are a threat to this kingdom just by being affiliated with Lumbre Redwood. There is more to know about you. I cannot believe you are my son” said Henriet. “You never gave me a chance! This is nothing!” shouted Elis angrily at his father. His father than stood up out of his chair and shouted “silence Elis! Leave this room now!” Elis then spat on ground and left as his father had old him to do so. Henriet and Pavis continued talking not just about Elis and Lumbre Redwood but also of how the southern part of the city was and its dire situation. Henriet did not show any animosity or hatred towards Pavis throughout the conversation, he knew where Pavis was coming from but he did not sympathise with him. “Lumbre is still in this city. We need to find him” said Henriet to Pavis. “Tomorrow before the trial, we should capture and arrest Lumbre, I know exactly where we can find him” said Pavis excitedly. “Excellent, first thing tomorrow be outside the palace. Do not allow anyone else to know you and I had a conversation about this” said Henriet. Pavis left abruptly and off to wherever he was able to go to.
Elis was in his room loathing, his chances of being had been further s
quandered by his need for power when he was younger. Allan then came in just as Elis had gone into his own room earlier. Allan then asked “why was father shouting down there and who was he talking to”. “All I feel like telling you is, remember when I would always disappear at some points in the day. The reason behind me disappearing is why tomorrow I will be on trial” said Elis. “So, neither of us can be king at this point?” questioned Allan. “The inauguration in the city square after the trial will decide who is to be the next king” said Elis. Allan nodded and did not want to ask the angered Elis anymore questions before leaving the room. All the brothers can do now is speculate what is to come. Elis had other things to worry about than the whole Lumbre Redwood affiliation issue, including the fact that he treated his soldiers poorly during the campaign. Elis knows he is not going to get any support from the army while Allan is confident many will surely support him. Elis then got up out of his bed because he knew exactly what Pavis
