Mai Murphy Venn, Ireland
— I live in a town called New Ross, County Wexford. I am in my early sixties. I am married to Edno and we have a large family. I love poetry and I find it to be a way to express emotion. I can say things in a poem I would not dare to say in my every day chat. I can become the voice of the oppressed that have no one to speak up on their behalf. I suffer with dyslexia but I will not let it be a barrier. If I have something to say, I will say it. If I have something to write, I will write it. When people are killed by the hands of terrorists and there is a retaliation as a result more innocence lives are eradicated. I feel that my weapon, the pen, will strike a cord sometime in the right ear. I am not a good writer by any means but I will make the attempt to speak out about wrong doing.

Michael Walker, New Zealand
— Born in 1945, I grew up and was educated in a small town in New Zealand. I completed high school to the seventh form, then studied for four years at Auckland University, where I graduated with B.A. and M.A. degrees, specializing in French. I also studied German. I taught in some New Zealand high schools, and also for a year as an assistant in Grenoble, France. I had more time for my own reading in later years, and I took full advantage of the chance to read nonfiction, history, and poetry. I became very interested in John F. Kennedy's presidency, and the theories about the assassination. I read widely about Richard Nixon, and other U.S. Presidents. It was American poetry that stood out for me. It was so full of life, vigor, and the republican spirit of freedom of speech. I discovered writers like Whitman, Robinson, Langston Hughes, Melvin B. Tolson, June Jordan, and many others, by myself, which can be better than being taught by others, I find. The long-line poems of Allen Ginsberg still shout and whisper, night after night. Years of intensive reading led me to try my own poetry writing from 2012 onward. It was a late beginning, although I had written some pieces as a student. I have had some of my poems published in a New Zealand and in an Australian magazine. I've posted my poems on PoemHunter web-site, but many of them are translations of American writers into French. I have been single so far in my life, but enjoyed a good social life. All my life I have kept fit with road running and the gym. I find this an essential balance to academic life. I live in Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand.

Niken Kusuma Wardani, Indonesia
— I was born on February 17, 1976 in Jakarta where I spent most of my life with my husband and our two daughters. Despite the demanding work hours in Garments Company I preserved a special thought for words of poetry. I love to captures the feeling or scenes of imaginary tales in my poems. Poetry is a great sanctuary, where to find harmony and a rest from the daily hectic life. This anthology is my first publishing experience and I'm pleased to take part in such a collective work, being together with my fellow poets from different parts of the world.
