  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

  JOAN D. VINGE is a two-time Hugo Award winner, for the novel The Snow Queen and for the novelette “Eyes of Amber.” She is the author of Catspaw and Dreamfall, which chronicle the further adventures of Cat, the antihero she establishes in Psion. Her other books include the Hugo Award finalist The Summer Queen, World’s End, and Tangled Up in Blue, all sequels to The Snow Queen, and Heaven Chronicles. She has had a number of short stories published, many of which are collected in Eyes of Amber and Other Stories and Phoenix in the Ashes. She wrote the bestselling Return of the Jedi Storybook, and has written other book adaptations of films, including Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, The Dune Storybook, and Ladyhawke. She also has written The Random House Book of Greek Myths (illustrated by Oren Sherman) for children. Ms. Vinge lives in Madison, Wisconsin, with her husband.
