R.J. carried Denise over the threshold of their house. They would not leave for their honeymoon until tomorrow, so tonight was strictly for them. He put Denise down onto her feet.

He’d couldn’t imagine a more beautiful, desirous woman if he wanted to. Which he didn’t.

With everything going on, ranging from the nervousness of the wedding to the excitement of the reception, he hadn’t taken time to let the image of his wife soak in. For a few moments, he simply stared at her.

She was clothed in a soft pink—she insisted it was called blush—dress that fit her lean body to perfection then fanned out near her knees in a wave of ruffles. Her hair was pulled into a bun atop her head with a few curly tendrils cascading around her pretty face. It was a shame he would have to mess all of that up very, very soon.

Denise smiled, her pine green eyes alight. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I can’t admire my wife?” Just saying the word wife gave R.J. chills.

“You look like you want to eat me, husband.”

  He winked. “Maybe I do.”

She laughed. He swooped her into his arms again and carried her up the stairs. Not so long ago, R.J. believed he would never have Denise in his arms again. Thought he’d never share a house or give her his last name.

He thanked God every day for blessing him with the woman of his dreams. Tonight and for the rest of their lives he would show her just how much he loved and appreciated her.

He laid her down on the bed of red silk sheets. She ran her hand over the smooth material.

  “New?”

“Yep. Thought I’d make tonight special.”

“Silk sheets certainly say special.” She chuckled.

“Laugh all you want. Silk is hot.”

He loosened his tie enough to pull it over his head then shrugged out of his suit jacket while she watched. Stretching out on the bed beside her, R.J. gently palmed the back of her neck and brought her lips to his. Mmm. Denise’s lips were as smooth and soft as the silk beneath them. Kissing her slowly and completely, he felt her undoing the buttons on his shirt.

“I love you, R.J.,” she murmured against his mouth.

  “Ditto.”

She pulled back with a frown of outrage. “Ditto?”

“I’m kidding. I love you too.”

Their lips connected again. His tongue thrust into her mouth, exploring, worshiping her inner depths. R.J. reached up and painstakingly pulled each pin from her hair, allowing her thick, dark locks to spill down like a waterfall over her, over him.

Separating them for as long as he could bear, R.J. unzipped the wedding dress, sliding it from her toned body. Because she cared about it, he tossed it on the chair instead of the floor. She insisted on undressing him, though he knew he could do it much faster.

When they were bared for the other’s eyes to drink in, R.J. couldn’t help but smile at Denise. She was stunning. His hand caressed her hip, her flat stomach. Goosebumps left a trail where he touched her soft skin.

Everything that she was, every part of her belonged to him. And he to her. He only hoped she didn’t feel ripped off in the deal. Though he made sure to work out to make his body worthy of her.

Her eyes darkened as he laid his body atop hers. He was about to show her how strong his love truly was.

She gasped when their bodies connected. They rocked together in a dance made for only them. Maybe it was marriage or perhaps it was delighting in the woman he cared for, but R.J. swore he’d never known sensations so strong, a beauty so deep.

She ran her fingers across his back, setting his skin on fire. Every moan of ecstasy drifting from her lips made him drunk. He gave his wife everything within him. She cried out, curving her body off the mattress.

He buried his face within the silky locks of her hair. His breath grew harsher. Soon, he reached the pleasured destination she arrived at only moments before.

R.J. rolled over, taking Denise with him so that she was resting on his chest. She pressed a kiss to the side of his neck.

  “Thank you,” he whispered.

“For what?” Her cheeks sported a rosy hue.

“For giving me happiness. I thought I was living before you, but I wasn’t.”

“Then I should be saying the same to you. I was miserable until I met you, R.J. Your love healed me.”

It was a love made for his wife and no one else. Never again would Denise have to worry about infidelity. For the rest of his life R.J. would surround her with his love and revel in the heat of hers.
