Darnell “Saki” Dickerson has been writing fiction since he learned how to hold a pencil and hasn’t stopped since. Between working a full time in a hobby store (nerd heaven!) and studying for University classes Darnell will usually be found working through his backlog of “to read” books, planning a “next” book or story before even finishing the current one, spending time with his lovely girlfriend or doing what most people his age are good at – wasting time on Youtube.
Darnell has had some of his fiction and poetry published in high school and at his local library and has even won a few scholarships. He doesn’t like to consider himself a genre writer but has a strong affinity to High Fantasy and Science Fiction as well as a fascination for the darker side of the Horror/Thriller genre.
His favorite styles of music are Power Metal, Japanese Rock/J-pop, and Soundtracks/Movie Scores. He is currently going through final revisions of his first novel.

Note from the Author
Dear readers,
This is my second short story and I’m offering it for free because I want to give you all a taste for what I can do. I primarily write in Fantasy, Sci- Fi and Horror genres and I know sometimes you can’t tell what kind of story you’re getting into by the cover, so I decided to create a small identifier so a reader can identify the genre of my stories just by looking at the cover. There will be a small color coded marking in the upper left.
Red is Horror/Thriller. (Serial Killers, Slashers, (P)sychological Thrillers)
Blue is Sci-fi. (Superheroes, Space, Spec Sci-fi…)
Green is Fantasy. (Swords, Sorcery, Supernatural)
All my Saki Stories will have these identifiers from here out, it’s easier than coming up with new pennames to keep them separate and you should feel very entitled to be part of a super secret club to understand this coding.
I don’t know why my brain works the way it does when it comes to creepy things like this but I read an article about nursing home abuse and molestation a couple of years ago and this story has been under my skin ever since. It’s a touchy subject I know and I apologize if anyone was deeply offended by it, but I can’t apologize for writing it because it was there crawling under my skin and wouldn’t leave me alone until I wrote it and did the story justice.
But I do want to go on the record and say I don’t condone the actions of the young intern, I think he’s sick and maybe he’ll be a cameo in a future story and I’ll kill him off as karma for what he did here. However even though this story is a work of fiction there are people like Rob out there. If you take anything away from this it should be that. And that’s the scary part…
Thank you for taking the time to check out my story. I sincerely hope you enjoyed it and I would love to hear feedback (and even if you didn’t I’m still all ears to your comments, I won’t take it personally. Promise.)
You can visit my blog to see what I’m working on and if I may have any other writings that may spark your interest/curiosity.
Once again thank you sincerely for your time and interest. I encourage any honest feedbacks and reviews published to sites where my stories are available and I ask only one favor. If you enjoyed this story please share or suggest it to a friend who may like it also. That’s the greatest show of appreciation a reader can offer a writer short sending lovely, stalker-ish fan mail (don’t believe what the media says, everybody appreciates some good old fashioned stalker fan mail every once in a while!)
Thank you.
Check out my short story “Flowers”
George and Chloe are High School sweethearts nearing the end of their senior year with a serious problem. The adorable, inseparable couple that everyone sees smiling and holding hands is a façade. Behind George’s doting ways and charming smile lies a jealousy and paranoia so deep it drives him into a blind rage that is best kept under wraps.
When Chloe announces she is moving to California for college George unravels and there is no stopping the rampaging, possessive beast that lives within causing him to do terrible, terrible things. Will George be able to take control of this inner monster before it destroys everything good in his life or will he be a slave to it just as his father was?
This is a story of young love and fear, affection and abuse, sunflowers and suspicion, innocence and blood.
- “Flowers” is a digital Saki Short Story that can be enjoyed easily in one sitting, during a long bus ride, road trip, extended evacuation of the bowels, just about anywhere.
