Read The Angkora Warlands Page 7

“No. I will not fight anymore.”

“Then so be it,” Karruva declared. “You can die right here.” Karruva unsheathed his sword.

Hannu was hiding in the darkness, waiting for the right moment to strike. He had been watching the duel quietly. He pulled out a needle from his hair. The needle transformed into an Iron Staff, a weapon that he had kept secret for a long time.

Hannu jumped out from the darkness and struck Karruva’s sword. Hannu swung the Iron Staff like an experienced warrior. “It is time for my will to come true!” Hannu attacked and they wounded each other with their weapons.

“The will of those you've trampled on,” Hannu screamed. “Take it Lord Karruva!”

Hannu and Karruva fought violently. Karruva used his mindpower and flung Hannu’s staff. Hannu turned around with a dagger and stabbed Karruva in the heart. Karruva swung his sword onto Hannu’s shoulder. Hannu was slashed badly.

  “Retribution,” Karruva murmured.

  “ Brother!”Rangga called out.

“Don't come!” Karruva screamed back. “Don't come close to me!”

  But Rangga persisted. “Brother! Brother!”

“A call I've always cherished,” Karruva said, choking.

Rangga saw his brother breathed his last.

Hannu picked himself up and said, “Rangga, the Core. Quick.”

Rangga quickly made his way to the Levitation Core. Rangga was stunned at how big the Kinetix Engine was. The old Shadow Monks were surprised by his entrance. Using his mindpower, Rangga caused multiple explosions inside the Kinetix Engine. The giant floating Kinetix Engine fell to the ground, and rolled over some Shadow Monks.

The Flying Fortress started to fall.

Far away, in the dark sky, the Dark Lord managed to escape. Riding on a bat-like creature, he turned and watched his fortress failing. As the Flying Fortress tilted sideways and dropped, it crashed into a few Gunships. The battling soldiers down below scattered as they saw the giant Fortress hurtling towards them.

There was a big crash as the Fortress hit the ground, destroying some buildings and many soldiers. The Fortress shattered into pieces.

Rangga appeared from the rubble. He looked up to the air and spotted the Dark Lord getting away.

Rangga waved his fist and screamed. “Daaaaarrrkkk Looooorrrrd!!!”

Giant tree roots snaked its way from the edge of city into the battle field and moved towards Rangga. The giant roots seemed to have a life of its own, like giant tentacles.

A Buffalo Soldier sensed the tentacles, and started to run for this life. A thin root jet out from the ground and speared the Buffalo Soldier through the heart. Another giant tentacle root thrust out from the ground, grabbed a Stone Monster, whipped it into the air, then slammed it down onto the ground and blasting the Stone Monster into pieces.

A few of the Shadow soldiers were attacked by the tentacles and were pulled beneath the ground. Their bones cracked grotesquely as they were pulled by force through the cracks on the ground. Finally, the giant tentacles, the biggest of them all, snaked its way up the pieces of the Flying Fortress, poking and squeezing, crumbling the pieces, pulling the entire Fortress into the ground. The whole battle field was left a massive disaster area and a massive burial ground.

  THE MEANING

Days later, Rangga and Chinta sat on the hills, overlooking the rebuilding of Angkora while the architects were busy discussing their plans with the builders.

“Angkora has such great mathematicians,” Chinta stated with pride.

“Yes, “ Rangga responded with greater pride. “We believe that mathematics is divine and that God is a mathematician.”

  Chinta smiled.

Rangga continued. “Father believed that when something is truly advanced, it becomes Magic.”

  “Really?” Chinta asked.

“Do you believe that mathematics can explain everything?” Rangga answered.

  “No, not everything.”

Rangga looked at Chinta. “Not everything?”

“No, not everything.” Chinta said again with sureness. Chinta smiled again. This time a wider smile.

Chinta probed Rangga's heart. “How does it feel, Rangga? To be back in Angkora.”

There was peacefulness in Rangga’s face. “Home, Chinta. Home.”

He kept silent for a moment then murmured, “A new Golden Age…”

Chinta looked at Garuda and a few of its mates flying by. “Rangga, how long do you want me to stay here?”

“As long as you want,” Rangga said.

As the sun set, Rangga touched Chinta’s hands. Chinta pulled her hands away. “ No, we can’t… you know that we are not allowed to have a relationship.”

Chinta asked coyly, “ Rangga, do you know what Chinta means in my language?”

“No,” Rangga said. “What does it mean?”

“It means Love,” said Chinta as she gazed at the horizon. Her hair billowed in the wind.
