Read The Brightest Stars Page 22

“You made him, didn’t you?” I spat at Kael. “You did this to hurt me!” I screamed at him.

“I did this because he needs structure. I did this because he needs to stop fucking up his life.”

“Oh my God! You’re unbelievable! This is how far you’re willing to take this thing against my dad? Shipping his only son off to the war?”

I was going to be sick. I tried to roll the window down but couldn’t find it. I reached for the door handle and Kael tried to reach for me.

I jerked away. “Don’t you dare! Don’t you fucking dare touch me!” I nearly fell out of the Bronco. “Get away from here. Get the fuck away.” Tears soaked my face and my hair stuck to my wet cheeks.

“Go!” I screamed, not caring that it was dark out or that I would be alone on the side of the road. I just wanted to be as far away from him as humanly possible.

And of course, because the universe hated me, the moment my shoes touched the ground and I yelled at him again to drive away, the sky started to cry, covering me with thick tears of rain from head to toe.

  To be continued...

Stay tuned for part two of Karina and Kael's story, coming in 2019. Title to be announced.
