Read The Crumbling Brick - Book 1 of the Land of Neo Trilogy Page 11

What had been dark and sinister turned into great rejoicing, clearly a masterpiece—a reminder always of Kosmeo's goodness.

At last Ella grew weary. She found a corner and fell asleep, oblivious to all the activity around her.

She awoke with a jolt as she suddenly felt as if she was falling. Lights and sounds passed quickly around her, changing to darkness as she landed on a rough surface. Her nose told her even though her eyes were still adjusting to the darkness that she was back in her old cellar. She jumped up off the damp floor and looked around her. The big trunk was still askew, as she had left it. She ran her hand over the wall where the hole had been but it was solid once more, her clothes again ordinary.

Running rapidly to her room, she saw that everything was exactly as it had been. Picking up her stuffed bear, she hugged it intensely and for just a fraction of a moment, she thought it hugged her back.

She sat on her bed trying to remember everything about Neo; however, the more she thought, the more faded her memory became. Soon all that was left was an intense feeling of satisfaction and a sure sense of purpose. As the rain beat on her windows, Ella was the most content person on earth.

And one night, many years later, when she looked up at the poster on her wall, it didn’t even surprise her when she saw bright lights in the castle on the mountain and noticed that the unicorn shook his mane ever so slightly.
