Read The Edensville High Series: Adam Book #1 Page 7

  *******************************

Seated at a table for eight, the foursome had ordered their pizza and now watched as Edensville’s Populars enjoyed their Friday night.

“Hey David, where’s your friend tonight?” Eve questioned him from across the table as she swayed to the music the old jukebox in the corner was playing.

  “Who, Adam?” He questioned.

She nodded and gave him a look as if asking him was there another. “Uh..yea-uh.” Making it sound as if she were saying duh. “You two are always together.” She sipped her sprite and looked at Miriam. “Where you see one of them, you see the other.” She quipped.

“Oh, he’s probably at home, I guess.” David answered.

Eve pressed as she blurted out nonchalantly. “….but you guys usually ride your little scooters together to the games don’t you?”

David laughed nervously, he hated it when he heard someone call his ride a little scooter. “Yeah, well, we usually do because he doesn't get out much.” His gaze darted over toward Lucian, who didn't seem to be listening to their conversation at all. “I guess he finally had other things to do tonight.” He took a sip of his drink hoping that sounded cool.

“Well it’s his loss I guess because we are some awesome people to hang out with.” Eve high fived Miriam who added her own thoughts to the conversation.

“Yeah, I seriously can’t believe you guys have blown us off and never came to Shekinah’s on Friday nights.” David took a sip of his drink and shrugged his shoulders like he didn't know what his excuse would be. When in all actuality, he did have an answer and it was simply because he and Adam were mere Walk-ons and Walk-ons didn’t usually associate with the Populars on a Friday night at Shekinah's.

“I still can’t believe no one knows who was in that big red truck tonight.” To his relief her focus was suddenly moved from David back to Lucian, who was sitting like the king of the establishment surveying all who were within his vista. He didn't look at her directly when he answered.

“Yeah, I know. Don’t worry yourself about it. I’m sure it will show back up sooner or later around town.” He tossed at her halfheartedly as an answer, and then winked at David over her shoulder.

“I hope so, 'cause I want to drive it soooo bad! All that power surging beneath me and at my disposal with just the push of the gas! Oh my word! That is like my dream truck!”

Miriam scoffed. “Oh please! You have never once ever said that you wanted a truck before!”

Eve threw her a look, “Well, I had never seen that truck before now!” She giggled like a silly school girl, Miriam hated when she did that. Just then a new song began to play on the old jukebox.

Miriam turned to David. “Come on, scooter boy, let’s dance!” She reached for his arm.

David’s eyes popped open rather innocently. “What?” He nearly choked on the sip of soda he had taken, but Miriam wasn't taking no for an answer.

“Oh no you don’t. You can’t say that you can’t dance ‘cause if you can move, walk, skip or jump, you can be taught to dance!” She grabbed him by his wrist and pulled him out onto the dance floor, leaving Lucian and Eve alone at the table.

“She really does think everyone can dance, doesn’t she?” Lucian remarked aloud.

“Well yeah….. because she loves to dance so much herself!” Eve explained. “I mean besides how hard is it? You hear the music, you move to the music be it fast or slow….it's really not rocket science.”

“Mmmhmmm....yeah.....right.” He didn’t sound convinced as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to nuzzle her neck and change the subject. “You really like that big red truck, huh baby?” He purred near her ear.

“Well yeah!” She pushed at his chest to give herself some breathing room. “That thing was awesome, I mean the color was so deep that I could actually see myself in the reflection and you were right I do look good in red!” She giggled at her own little joke then added. “Just kidding, I mean who wouldn't love it? The tinted windows, the chrome exhaust and the perfectly smooth way the side boards and tailgate let down. It was like my very own red carpet just laid out before me inviting me to jump in! Oh man, what I'd give to get behind the wheel of that thing!” Lucian eyed her as she spoke with all the animation that was Eve St. Clair.

“Yeah?” He questioned her between breaths.

She looked up into his eyes innocently. “Well yeah!” She giggled again missing the look of pure wickedness masquerading within the blackness of Lucian's eyes.

“Yeah, baby? Well just what would you give me if I could get you behind the wheel of that ride?”

He tried to nuzzle her neck again, but she placed her hand on his chest and pushed him away and stated flatly. “Well, I guess you’ll have to get me behind the wheel of that truck first to find out won’t you!” Without warning, Eve suddenly jumped to her feet and grabbed his hand motioning for him to go with her out on the dance floor.

Lucian gave a slight grin out of the corner of his mouth. “Nah babe, I don’t dance. I am the music.” Eve frowned, let go of his hand, shrugged her shoulders and bounced off toward her friends on the dance floor where she got right in the middle of the crowd.

For a few moments Lucian watched Eve through hooded eyes as she danced. That’s when the best idea he’d had all night hit him and he spoke out aloud, but only loud enough for himself to hear. “Yeah, you go on and dance baby girl, 'cause by this time tomorrow night you and I are going to be rocking one deliciously sweet red F450 guaranteed…..”
