Up in the mountains Mark and Jason had both circled around the perimeter of the clearing, meeting on the other side from where they had started. They crouched down between a large bush and a tree, out of sight of the cabin.
“Guards?” Mark asked in a whisper.
Jason shook his head. Mark nodded and pointed at the route he had taken, also indicating that he hadn’t seen any on his side either. The only guards they had seen were two standing outside the cabin door, but they didn’t know if there were any inside the cabin. At least they knew this was the right cabin. The two of them crept forward, using the vegetation in the forest to stay hidden. At the edge of the clearing they stopped. Jason kept an eye on their surroundings as Mark inspected the cabin.
It was a simple structure, small, probably only two rooms. The cabin was directly in the middle of the clearing, only a small dirt road led up to it. Besides that the entire clearing was empty, nothing to hide behind or use for a shield. Two guards stood outside the door, and Mark could see another two through the cabin windows. The cabin looked like it had a basement that they were probably keeping Tyler in. If there was then there would be at least another guard or two down there with him. Mark tapped Jason on the shoulder and motioned for them to fall back.
The two of them snuck out of the area much quicker than they had entered and drove back to town.
