I slammed on my brakes and jumped out, certain I’d run over something or someone. I checked the front of my Chevy and even underneath it, but nothing was there.
So strange.
I guess I should have been grateful that I hadn’t killed any local persons or pets, but my elevated heart rate wasn’t registering the false alarm. Standing alone in the parking lot made me feel vulnerable. I was easy prey for anyone interested. I shivered and jumped back in my truck, cursing my overactive imagination.
