“May I help you find something?” the gal behind the counter asked.
So many colors to choose from and I knew nothing about make-up, which was why I came here.
“I'm looking for some make-up, but with all this choice I don't know what would be right for me,” I said.
“I would say earth tones would be best since you have such beautiful skin. I don't get many costumers who look good enough I would tell them what I'm going to tell you. I honestly think if you don't need make-up you shouldn't wear make-up,” she said.
“I imagine if you told many people that, you'd be out of a job. I would love to make my eyes stand out more though,” I said.
“I'll tell you what if you like how you look when I'm done I'd love to try finding just the right make-up to do that, and show some other costumers how, just a little make-up can make a big change. I really hate seeing women pile their make-up on so heavy they look like clowns,” she said.
“I'd like that, and I'll buy whatever make-up you use on me if it looks good when you're done. Also, I was wondering if you had any perfume in a rose scent, preferably a white rose scent,” I said.
She looked at my nails and gasped as the rose pattern on them stood out.
“Those nails must have cost a fortune the design is so detailed,” she said.
“I guess. I just love roses,” I said.
“Yea, what girl doesn't,” she said.
There was a chair sitting not far from where I had been standing looking at all the different make-up and she asked me to have a seat and as soon as I was ready she would get started.
With each step she explained what it was she was doing and why it was important. It felt so strange having someone working like this on my face, but I knew with each step she was doing a work of art that would look wonderful when she was done. Every now and then I would look around and as she was finishing the blush I spotted Chris standing off to one side watching. The look on his face told me everything I needed to know, he might be marrying Irene, but she didn't have his heart, I did. Sharon finished with the make-up and thanked me for being willing to help her. I looked in the mirror she had and smiled.
“Sharon thank you, this looks perfect and I'm going to work very hard to learn to do this myself. As I promised I want all the different make-up you used. I have someone I need to go talk to while you ring this up, I'll be right back,” I said.
“I see you had to come watch me getting my face painted,” I said to Chris as I approached.
“I'm just curious about your fingernails. My fiancée loves the different patterns like that and she knows I love roses. I know she would love to have her nails done that way. You couldn't tell me where you got them done could you?” he asked.
“I could, but then I'd have to kill you, I'm sorry Chris but it's a state secret and I'm not sure you have the proper clearance for it,” I said.
“Top secret, or eyes only clearance?” he asked.
“Need to know, eyes only clearance. Kind of like the details of my job,” I said smiling.
“I do have as high of a security clearance as you can get,” he said.
“Really? I'll bet you could even tell me how those infantry solders got out of the mess they were in if I asked,” I said.
“I could but I have the feeling you already know the answer, don't you Captain Waters?” he asked.
“I don't know what you're talking about Major Jacobs. If I'm not mistaken Captain Waters is male and as you can see I am all female,” I said.
“Yes I can definitely see that Sam. You don't mind if I call you Sam do you?” he asked.
I leaned in so only he could hear and whispered that I didn't even mind him Calling me Captain Waters, and yes I did have first hand knowledge of how they got out of their mess.
“Chris I'm a witch, and yes I know you believe in witches, just as I know you have magic, but that it's not witchcraft magic,” I said.
He looked in my eyes and asked if I wanted to find out just what kind of magic he had.

“I'm sorry Sam it was the only way, you would have died if I hadn't.”
