The marionetteer lifts both your legs at the same time. That was a bad idea. You hurt your tailbone when you hit the ground. The marionetteer moves your hand to hold your tailbone but it doesn't give you long to process the pain. It lifts your feet up, angling your knees out to the side. It makes you play patty cake with your hands and feet. Your new white shorts are getting muddy. The marionetteer makes you kick your feet in the air.
Julian has caught up with you. His mouth softens. He dips his head over to the side. He waggles it as if it’s on a spring. You’re his new best friend.
