I knew they were going to be after you, so I took you to a research facility even they didn’t know about, and found you a journal so that you could record your life in it, so that I could still know of your life even when my conscience was at it’s weakest. I thought that with your body and stamina you could get away from them, but you didn’t know to. That’s why I’ve been trying to get more control over our brain since I saw the dead Noble next to the butterfly corpse. Sorry about all the headaches.
I’m going to protect you. They have our body under the influence of a strong sedative, which is why they haven’t brought any handcuffs. They’re going to be strong, but I know a way out once they let us off the van. I’ll take back over then, all right?
Also, you’ve been wrong about the date. I’ve fixed it though. Good luck.
The 10th of July, 2XXX
Wow. That was a whole lot to take in… Thanks Johnson! I appreciate you giving me the journal and trying to protect me. Thanks for correcting the date too, although I think it’s a little late to fix the past entries now though.
That was crazy, but what I’m about to tell you is even crazier! We were riding in the van when all of the sudden a large pole shot through the van, which made it suddenly stop. Not even a second after it retracted I heard a large shatter of glass and more ripping of metal. There were several gunshots before I heard another crash.
I had no clue what it was going on until the roof of the van was ripped open. Guess what saved me. Go ahead. Guess!
WRONG! It was butterflies! A group of butterflies saved me! They were each the size of a truck with their body alone! They picked me up and took me to a nest of theirs I once passed. It wasn’t until I got there did I realize that they were friendly! A rather small one used its tongue-thing to inject something into me, and now I’m feeling good again!
The nest is this huge, underground cave. There must be at least twenty adults in here, as well as a few kids!
I think I now know why they saved me. I’ve been sitting here and looking around, and I see a bunch of these spheres similar to the one I left a little ways away from that one nest I passed not too long ago. I think that thing was a butterfly egg! That would explain its size. I guess they wanted to repay me for bringing back their egg!
Maybe butterflies aren’t all that bad. They’re just huge and want to protect their eggs that I thought they always wanted to kill me. Maybe I was always wrong about them.
The 11th of July, 2XXX
I’m sorry Prince. A lot happened today, which is why we’re back in the custody of The Nobles. I’ll still try to get us out this. It wasn’t in my plan for butterflies of all things to wreck our transportation.
The wall of the cave had just suddenly blown up as soon as I took back over. A team of Nobles immediately took out a butterfly. One came down on its head with an ax, and another hit the back of the ax with a sledgehammer, just barely splitting open it’s head. A third stuck a stick of dynamite in the wound and blew enough of its head off from the inside to kill it.
More Nobles poured in after that. You could only tell them apart by their choice of weapon. I tried to take out as many as I could, but I could only manage to kill 4 before I was shot in the leg by a sedative shot. I found out that the sedative is the lethal injections the government once used for prisoners. It’d make sense we’re so messed up.
The Nobles are expert tacticians, masters of hand-to-hand combat, and unrivaled marksmen. They are not to be trifled with. There was only fifteen in total, but they could’ve taken out the entirety of the nest if they wanted to. They know exactly what the butterflies are weak to: fire and smoke. They had plenty of flamethrowers on them. They didn’t get away without a few wounded of their own, as I’m sure this was just a quick mission to re-obtain us, not to eradicate the nest.
It was sad, seeing them be slaughtered like that. It’s a shame. You had just gotten to like them.
Just make sure The Nobles don’t experiment on you. If they try to, try to fight or run the best you can.
The 12th of July, 2XXX
Bad news Johnson, I think they’re going to try and experiment on me tomorrow. They said that I had “abnormal amounts of radiation” that had seeped through my suit. I don’t know what that means, but they also said that I have something called “Corium” and “Nuclear Fuel” inside of me that they want to “work with”.
I don’t know what they want and they scare me. I don’t know what to do! I don’t know what I can do! This sedative has got me super-slowed. I’m scared. This is worse then when I first saw a butterfly.
They came in and unbolted my mask, and it feels weird. What do these masks do? Does it have to do with the uranium? I don’t understand any of this.
I don’t feel good about any of this. I tried getting out but one of them kicked me for getting some dirt on suit. I don’t think I can get away.
All I want is to get away, to be away and safe. Is that too much to ask for? Why do I have to be stuck here?
Wait a second, maybe I don’t! I’m going try something real quick.
The 15th of July, 2XXX
I finally found the journal! It took a while of looking, and trust me it wasn’t easy. I’m sorry to say that it’s a tad stained, but it’s still readable for the most part. I read that they took away our gas mask, so I got found that too and put it back on.
It was fun, killing everyone in that bunker. The light-green glow illuminating my veins as my blood rushed faster and faster, separating their lives from their bodies as I separated their organs from their ribcage, crushing their mask-encased heads with one hand while popping off their feet at the ankles with another.
It was all too good.
I’m sorry to say, but we are soaked in the blood of The Nobles. They were interesting. Despite their fragileness they had possessed enough skill to be worth being hunted down and slaughtered.
Thanks for the fun, Prince! I was happy to be of help. Seems like you and Johnson were in quite a predicament there. You probably could’ve gotten out of there yourself if you could burn through the sedatives.
I’m going to let you take the reigns again Prince. Just call me when you need me.
Oh, and I’ve already named myself.
I am called Diablo.
