Chapter 7: Dallas
It was remarkably like walking into someone’s house, Annette later recalled whenever she would think about her first experience with the mysterious Enochian ship, Dallas. The kings on earth were always so exalted and glorified by the historians, but when it came down to it, their ‘Royal Houses’ were still merely houses. None of them could fly! In this ‘house’ Annette also felt a great sense of royalty. She felt she had underestimated who Enoch really was, and started to get a little bit curious.
At the top of the stairs, she found a silly and out of place welcome mat, which was well worn. There were also some potted plants and herbs, enjoying some of the sunshine. This was a little convertible patio, like you’d find in a convertible mobile home. As it had been quite windy outside, she felt herself relax immediately as she stepped into the stillness of the warmly lit interior of Dallas. There was beautiful wooden upholstery and thick stone pillars with torches set into the rock. Numerous suits of armor, weapons and artifacts from Earth’s long history (and the Universe’s even longer history) decked the whole place out, making it feel more like a museum. Some of these were absolutely other-worldly and almost impossible to accurately describe, but brought to mind the ancient Egyptian and Sumerian cultures, or whatever had ‘come down from the Heavens’ to influence those cultures. You got the feeling that these styles would have already been ancient back then, too. As Annette walked down this hallway deeper into Dallas, she felt as though she was being taught all about Earth's roots and the benefactors of its ancient cultures.
This hallway led finally to a large dining room, behind which was a kitchen. Next to the dining room she found a massive library that extended up several floors of open space, and down one floor. This made up the innermost part of the ship. There was dark red carpet in this library, and the oaken book cases were all jam packed with ancient books and scrolls. There were tables littered with open books, and research projects. This looked more like Merlin’s library than some space traveler’s. She really forgot she was even in a spaceship, except for the fact that things were definitely pretty compact. It didn't feel cramped at all, but rather warm and homely. There was a large fireplace in a sitting room connected to the library, with big chairs, a coffee table and a big bear skin on the floor to lie down on and get absorbed in reading or study. This place was a dream for any bookworm! Her eyes fell upon a crystal sculpture, sparkling above the fireplace. Upon closer inspection she saw that it was that of a mermaid in whose hands was a tiny seashell. The soft sound of waves seemed to echo from it, and when you focused on its sound it almost transported you to some distant shore, giving you the vision of an endless ocean.
“Like it?” She heard Enoch’s voice from behind, breaking the seashell’s spell.
“Ah, it’s okay, I guess!” She replied, in jest. She was literally blown away by everything here. It was as though you could get absorbed just studying every little nook and cranny of this place, and everything you looked at or dwelled upon just opened up an entire world. However, Annette was suddenly struck with a feeling of hunger- not painfully so, but the desire to eat was present.
“Well make yourself at home. We do need to get moving soon, but I need to find Dallas to give her her present. Now. . . where-did-she-go. . .” Enoch said absent mindedly, picking up one of the piles of papers from one of the study tables.
The rooms were warmly lit with nice lamps set upon quaint little antique desks in practically every corner and by every chair, but the rest of the hallways and other areas usually had torches. Hearing the gurgle of Annette’s talking stomach, he called up to the ceiling “Dallas, Oh miss sweet Dallas, we have a guest! Would you be so kind as to-“
Across the cavernous library and beyond the dining room, the sound of machines roaring to life in the kitchen could be heard, answering Enoch’s call even before he could finish.
“Ah technology these days–fully automatic! I can’t wait to see what’s for dinner, though. It should be ready in just a little while. . . you’re welcome to relax and walk around. Your room is upstairs in the hallway where the guests rooms are…”
“Where are we going?” Annette asked. She had every right to know, too!
“Didn’t I mention to you before? The King has invited you to have a royal audience! You’re going to be given some sort of secret mission– so secret I don’t even know the whole scope of it. I just had to get you out of the Eleneth people’s hands, and that was it. Also, you’re quite the babe, so I just couldn’t help myself!”
“If you think I’m going to fall for those flatteries, you’re quite mistaken! I’ll be quite alright on my own. I’m rather hungry though, I don’t know why. I’ve never felt this kind of hunger before! Is there a reason for this? What’s happened to me?”
“You’re outside the realm of The Heavenly City’s influence here, where there is just simply perfect everything! You might say I’m kind of old fashioned… I am a pretty physical Heavenite. This craft you’re standing in, all the gear and books and things you see are all physical, although they have a very high speed of spirit-to-solid rate of interaction (S2SROI). In other words, spirits are able to interact with everything here as if it was in their dimension. It’s a state of being that the Earth is also heading into very soon. All these ‘physical’ weapons are also Spirit-imbued, too. That means they are totally Spiritual Warfare Enabled (SWE) and compatible for a spirit or angel to use. --Cut through demon flesh like butter, the swords from my armory do!” Enoch explained.
He rolled up some of the loose papers he had taken and inserted them into a steel tube for safe keeping. This he then polished with a cloth as he talked. The cloth was causing it to glow.
“Ah. . . (she tried to grasp what he was saying) . . . So I’m hungry here because I’m getting closer to the physical? I see how you mean… everything on Eleneth did feel like a dream, come to think of it. A wonderful dream, but indeed I feel a bit heavier here. Thank God you have all these comforts!”
“Yes, you’ll get used to it. And I’m glad you like it! Here you go.”
Enoch offered her some cookies brought in by the maid. The maid? A short cute looking girl with dark hair and a simple dress had come in while they talked, and quickly exited in a very humble fashion, not drawing any attention to herself.
“Dallas is quite the shy girl! She’s got her duties to tend to, but hopefully she’ll join us for dinner later.”
“Yes I almost missed her! She is. . . a real person?”
“Hah hah! Be careful or she’ll hear you! She’s a bit spunky, and if she gets wind of any strange comments from you she’s sure to do something drastic! Well, just enjoy yourself.”
Enoch grabbed two of the cookies off the silver platter and set off, then returned as if he’d forgotten something, grabbed an ancient looking parchment made from papyrus off the desk there, and walked off again, with the first tube he'd just polished also under his arm. Despite his antics, he had a very regal stride, as though each step carried with it great purpose and authority. Was everyone from Heaven this way? Both silly and magnificent at the same time?
"So odd. . ." She whispered under her breath.
As he walked into his library, Annette saw a fantastic sight: the cloak he was wearing came off, hovering in the air, followed by a burst of blinding yet beautiful light from his armor. Each piece of armor separated and as if they had little minds of their own and flew to different pedestals located all around the library (There were many such pedestals and mounts located all over the library and hall, showcasing both armor and weapons, as well as some mysterious relics). This all happened in rapid succession, so naturally and quickly Enoch hadn’t even slowed his pace down, or paid any attention. In fact, the entire time he was nonchalantly munching on a cookie and staring at the outside cover of the parchment he’d just grabbed. 'This place is definitely Enoch’s element,' Annette thought.
