these guys. There was something strange about them.
The next morning, just when the sun went up, we received visitors. Micah and Zeke entered the Inn.
“Rise and shine, my friends. I hope you enjoyed your stay at our Inn and I hope that you understand the reason behind the nature of accommodations,” said Micah.
“You mean the reason why you didn’t give us any beds”, I said to him.
“Exactly! We don’t really want strangers setting spawning points in our village, now do we?”
“It’s perfectly understandable,” said Jerry.
“So? Have you guys decided yet? Are you going to join our village and our clan?”
Jerry and I had talked about this before these guys had come. We already had everything planned out.
“I’ll join your clan, Micah,” said Jerry.
“I won’t,” I said.
Micah was silent for a moment. After that he said:
“Cool. We have got a new member. That’s nice. Welcome to the clan, Jerry. I hope you’ll like living in our village and mining and crafting with us.”
He then turned to me:
“Well, I hope you enjoyed your stay. But considering your negative answer in joining our clan, you need to leave right now. Thanks. Zeke here will escort you out of the village. My advice is to avoid coming back here. Have a nice day.”
Well he didn’t seem to take that well. At least he didn’t kill. At least not right away.
The four of us walked out of the Inn. Micah and Jerry went to the stronghold and Zeke and I slowly walked toward the gate. The rain poured down furiously. My bodyguard and I walked through the stone passage. When we reached the outer yard I saw that the archers were there again and had their arrows pointed at me. I was feeling a bit uneasy, but I figured that they wouldn’t keep Jerry as a member and then two minutes later would kill me…and I was right. The archers kept their arrows and let me walk out of there. As I walked out of the encampment, the huge wooden gates closed behind me.
It was now time for part two of our plan: I had to get to a safe distance and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity from the guys in the village. Jerry would do basically the same thing except he would spy on them from within, which was more dangerous. I had to count seven days from that day and then meet Jerry at our secret place in order for us to see what the other had found out.
But now, I had to use everything that Jerry had taught me about Minecraft in order to survive.
My inventory was quite full. Jerry and I decided what the best items and resources that we both had were, and I took them all in order to maximize my chances of survival out here in the wild.
I never stopped wondering about what Jerry was doing, from the moment I set my first step outside that village.
I started running like crazy through the forest, but I only ran in one single direction. I couldn’t leave a trail behind because I could not risk to be found by the guys from the village.
I ran for the whole day, until I came out of the forest and found myself on top of a small hill. From the small hill I saw a small house in the distance. I kept running until I got close enough to see the light from within the house. The sun had set completely and darkness had fallen over the land. I peered from behind a tall oak to see if I could spot any movement. I saw two people placing torches around some wheat crops. A small fence made out of wood surrounded the house. These guys even had a dog that was tied up to a fence post next to the house. They wore leather armor, so I guessed that they hadn’t been in Minecraft for that long a period of time. Their swords were made out of iron, though. I got a chance to see the swords because the moment they spotted me they took them out and started running towards me.
“Hey! You there!”
“Wait! I’m friendly!” I shouted.
“Are you from the village?”

Mark Mulle is a passionate Minecraft gamer who writes game guides, short stories, and novels about the Minecraft universe. He has been exploring, building, and fighting in the game ever since its launch, and he often uses in-game experiences for inspiration on creating the best fiction for fellow fans of the game. He works as a professional writer and splits his time between gaming, reading, and storytelling, three hobbies and lifelong passions that he attributes to a love of roleplaying, a pursuit of challenging new perspectives, and a visceral enjoyment the vast worlds that imagination has to offer. His favorite thing to do, after a long day of creating worlds both on and off the online gaming community, is to relax with his dog, Herobrine, and to unwind with a good book. His favorite authors include Stephen King, Richard A. Knaak, George R. R. Martin, and R. A. Salvatore, whose fantasy works he grew up reading or is currently reading. Just like in Minecraft, Mark always strives to level up, so to speak, so that he can improve his skills and continue to surprise his audience. He prefers to play massive multiplayer online games but often spends time in those games fighting monsters one on one and going solo against the toughest mobs and bosses he can manage to topple. In every game, his signature character build is a male who focuses mostly on crafting weapons and enchanting, and in every battle, he always brings a one hander sword and a shield with as much magical attributes as he can pour into them. Because he always plays alone, he likes to use his game guides to share all the secrets and knowledge he gains, and who know—he may have snuck some information into his fiction as well. Keep an eye out for his next book!
