  Chapter 8 - Exodus

Tears streamed down Diamond Arizona’s face as he stared into the monitor at the lightshow that lifted from Wildberry.

“This is nothing short of incredible, folks.” Diamond’s voice warbled with emotion. “We’ve never seen anything like it. In all my years bringing you this broadcast, I’ve never dreamed of such a sight.”

Oregon Destiny nodded along. “It just goes to show how you can’t take anything for granted during a planet-grab, because you never know what the stars are going to throw at you.”

Diamond nodded. “One simply cannot imagine the wonders waiting in the stars for humankind.”

The broadcast of the Wildberry planet-grab was more memorable than any those spectators housed within their comfortable domes could remember. Billions of points of color lifted from the planet, as if Wildberry gave birth to a new galaxy of twinkling stars. The famous broadcasters decided occasions existed when silence best described what was magnificent, and Diamond Arizona and Oregon Destiny focused upon the view delivered by their satellite cameras as swarms of flashing lights rose from the planet, gathering together in a great cloud of color that encircled the planet for a brief moment before vanishing in a wink.

“Just beautiful,” Diamond Arizona wiped at his eyes.

Oregon Destiny did the same. “Tragic and beautiful.”
